I think Cleverly has a big future ahead of him for England and could be a star. I also think Wilshere will be a star if he can regain his form and fitness.

I personally haven't seen enough of Shelvey to comment but from what i'v heard these three could make an excellent, well balanced midfield for England for years to come.

They all look good enough to play for England, and it's encouraging that the younger generation looks more comfortable playing a short-pass-and-move game with subtler angles and not straight lines that appears to be key in today's game.

I'm sure there are other players who will compete in this area though. Powell looks like a future international player. Some of United's reserve team midfielders could be in contention if they develop well. And other teams have good youngsters whom I can't judge as well because I don't see them play.

If England stick with a 4-4-2 formation, I think you could only use one of the three in the middle with a different sort of cm as a partner to them. Just my opinion of the situation.

All 3 could feature if Wilshere and Cleverley played deeper buy I think Wilshere is going to be more of a no 10 when he comes back.

Santos, is that really what arsenal need?

This is an interesting article and one I was going to write myself. If it were to work then i think that we would have to ask Shelvey to play as the more defensive role due to his extra height and physicality. However, some LFC fans have questioned Shelvey's discipline to play as more of a DM. If he was willing to do it though we could really have a promising batch for the CM areas. As someone else has already said, Powell could well push for a spot too and then of course there is McEachran.

What about Rodwell?

Rodwell has got some improving to do in my opinion. I think that he has sat back in the last few years thinking that he has already made it and his levels have slipped. Not convinced that he has the attitude to be a regular England started, but we will see.

Shelvey needs to sort out his attitude first.Too eratic at times I think.

--------------

His attitude is fine, it's his tackling he needs to sort out.

Exactly - ask Jonny Evans

"Santos, is that really what arsenal need?"

In my opinion, Arsenal need creativity on the wings which Cazorla can provide, Arsenal have always had at least 1 creative winger ever since Wenger has been in charge, from Overmars to Pires to Reyes to Rosicky to Arshavin to Nasri and now I hope Cazorla. Wilshere/Rosicky can take over Cazorla's spot as CAM, I think Wenger sees this as his position long term which is why he gave him the no 10 shirt.

So for England it might end up as
Cleverley Rodwell
Wilshere

because I don't see Shelvey playing in a deeper role.

You honestly think that Wilshere is going to oust Rooney from the No.10 spot? The only way that will happen is if Rooney is pushed forwards, but at the moment Roy seems to like Welbeck and we all know Rooney prefers the deeper role. Considering Wayne is one of the players that Roy talks to about the team, I can't see it happening to be honest.

Maybe if we play the diamond he could play at the head of it with Rooney and Welbeck/another ahead of him? But I wonder where that would leave Ox?

I think you would need a more defensively minded CM in there. Preferably one with a physical presence.

No.

The aforementioned trio have a lot more to do to be considered the 'future' of England.
