Rio is gonna get the jet engine.
It's like the hairdryer but with added weetabix.

He'll get the flying boot.
I think its Rio's call and SAF should not interfere. Also he was wrong yesterday to take a dig at Jason Roberts instead of disagreeing respectfully on this emotive topic.
Safe to say if Smalling is fit next week Rio will be on the bench.
Rio is a bit of twit for doing what he did considering SAF lambasted roberts. However, Rio should have made it clear that he wasn't going to wear it as this just makes SAF look like a tool. I do agree with Rio this Kick Out campaign is a nonsense and hasn't worked at all. Rascism will always exist in Football until UEFA, FIFA & the FA start growing some balls.
its not rio's call at all,he's an employee of a company thats supports a charity initiative, if they ask him to wear a t-shirt he should wear it, its not offensive or derogatory in any way,

No, it's not.
Fergie shouldn't be asking Rio to wear the t-shirt against his wishes. Fergie put himself in the position by being far more outspoken than he needed to be on the subject.
Golden rule of football...don't pass comment on players that play for other teams.
I don't understand something - Before Sir Alex made his press conference and shared his opinions on the whole matter, there were a lot of rumours that Rio wasn't going to wear the shirt, which of course he didn't. Did Sir Alex not think to speak to Rio about it beforehand?
I agree, he's made him look like a right idiot on this one.

The FA banned Terry despite him being found not guilty in a proper court, they banned Suarez and they fined Rio for his ridiculous tweet. How much more can they do? But UEFA and FIFA are a joke and bottle it every time they have a chance to do something

Agreed. Whether the player wants to wear one or not is his own, personal decision. Fergie should not have spoken on Roberts. Now he's just angry that his words have backfired on him.
people are forgetting rio is an EMPLOYEE of the club, if a company wants you to wear a uniform with a particular message on it then you wear it, no questions asked, i drive a royal mail van with a barnardo's sticker on the back do you think if i wen into my boss and said im not driving that because i dont agree with saving children, that they'd provide a different vehicle for me to drive, would they boIIocks, im with SAF on this one
I think Rio should do the club a favour and retire. He can then follow his real passion and become a full time tweeter.
I dont know how its not his call. This initiative is FA's initiative to generate awareness on the issue. If Rio thonks they are not serious about this then he is right to not wear it.
Sir Alex also refused to talk to BBC for years when he felt he had been wronged despite being contractually obliged and instead chose to pay a fine to FA every year. We all suported him on that. Some issues are of personal nature and there is no point making every one toe the line on those.
footballer's are not a law unto themselves
Didn't Rio agree with a racist tweet? So in that way he's partially responsible for the failing he's 'protesting' against.
Please for the love of god do not drop him because of this, we don't have players fit to cover him.

no he shouldnt be dropped, a good rollocking should suffice
First of all its an FA initiative and has nothing to do with Man-Utd specifically. Also I am pretty sure its not in Rio's contract to wear this, and even if it is I support him if he didn't feel right in wearing it. He can pay any fine to the club that may result from this.
Other players like Lescott haven't been wearing it for years. Their clubs have rightly never made this an issue.
it wont be in rio's contract specifically, but all companies can make 'reasonable' requests of their staff under employment law and SAF is rio ferdinand's boss, tbh it wouldnt surprise me if rio did it deliberately after sir alex's comments yesterday.
