Funny thing is, if we dropped out of the Champions League but won the FA Cup all the media would talk about is how Wenger's illustrious qualification record had come to an end, and say nothing about how we've ended our trophy drought.
They'd say: "It's great for the fans, but what does failure to qualify for the CL mean for Arsenal's ability to attract top quality players and new sponsorship deals, and does this indicate they've lowered their ambitions to only being a cup team...?" Whatever we do, unless we win the league, the media will portray us as going backwards.
I believe in the boards motives but dislike the corporate feel to our club.
The extra money received from higher ticket prices, is it worth sacrificing a decent atmosphere at the Emirates for the sake of milking that cow a little bit more? A better atmosphere at home might make for more points on the table.
How can the club say they are doing so well financially when ripping off its fans with the most expensive seats in world football and been way behind the other top clubs with commercial revenues
Sitting in what 7/8th place at the moment and relying on CL to keep revenues high enough
Top players will not want to come to a club that has no genuine ambition to win things.
What will probably happen is another season or 2 of the same old nonsense and Asminov will be asked to get more involved. Perhaps Pep might come in and the purse strings will loosen?
At the moment the drivel coming from Wenger and the board is insulting to the fans!
i agree with nothing u say absolutetruth, pep will not come to arsenal, top players dont come to us anyway? asminov will not get asked to do more, the board have been trying to push him out for years now......
i appreciate your comments though, i just disagree
So you are happy with your lot and will continue to pay through the nose to go to the Emirates and be effectively laughed at by the board who have demonstrated no genuine ambition and have no expectations of a manager who has had years and years to build the infra-structure of the club but is in an eighth season where the team does not seem to have moved forward
Top players aren't coming, the top players who have been there haven't been offered the right deals or had a vision sold to them by the club where it seems the top earner is the manager!
Interesting....
Good article OP. Have five
Well written and thought out article, and i agree, some Arsenal fans need to be realistic, we are the only Premier League team that has moved stadiums in the last decade (bar Man City) and still been able to compete at the top of the table without strong financial support.
Now, as we were told by Ivan Gazidis, we will also have financial power to buy world class to compete with Chelsea & both Manchester clubs.
That is why this is season the most important season EVER in our history. Harry Redknapp has already come out stating it will be a miracle if this Arsenal squad gets top 4.
Hence why top 4 this season will be more important than any other in our history and hence why it will feel like a trophy if this new squad achieve that.
In Wenger I Believe!!!
I thought this article was sarcastic. No ambition, poor.
absolute truth, i get what your saying, but the board have shown more ambition that most PL teams, IMO, they can see that 10 odd years winning nothing means ....nothing.....if it benefits the future of our club.i think were lucky.
Winning things means stuff to most fans, and is good for the future of the club also. What is the point of a football club then? Especially a supposedly big club
