Our Takeover

I must admit i was worried with the uncertainty that surrounded who the new owners were a few months ago. I also did not participate in the protest, but I can't say i did not sympathize with them in some way, particularly towards mark! However I have learnt since then how dear to his heart Forest was to Nigel and I am grateful to his family in taking the time to make sure that we had some new owners who would take Forest to the next level without risking Financial retribution or Damage to the club.

I cannot fault the Al Hawasi's, they seem like a breath of fresh air, and have made changes to the club but have still kept the foundations, so as not to risk the club's future or even present. They have been open and honest which I think is the greatest thing a fan can want, and have spent money but have spent it wisely and have not blown big money on self-pompous players.

I think SOD and the squad with the Al hawasi's backing, has a great blend to it, and the good times I think are not too far away, as you are proud to support Forest again now and look forward to going to the City Ground again, which has not happened since BD was here! I also think this year could seriously end up being a great year!

You never know, i don't want to go over the top here, but maybe this year finally is our year to get promoted and start to bring the good times back!!!

I was a big fan of ND for saving our club when he did. I thought it was always obvious that he was a big fan as well, but always admitted that under his tenure the club was not well managed and his choice of managers over the years was very poor. I generally felt better the devil you know.

Having said that the way the Al Hasawi family is now running the club is a massive improvement. They seem to be 'football people' and backing the manager and his team 100%. Long may it continue.

Thanks to the new owners, I am more confident about a return to the PL this season than I have been since the days of Dave Bassett.

Just one thing the owners have been quiet on and about which I would like some news though is plans for the (new?) stadium. I love going to the FCG, but it is clearly not good enough for a PL club

I spoke to someone who spoke to them on that subject about a month ago. According to him, they said they knew the significance of the City Ground to the fans and wanted to stay if possible but obviously make improvements to the stadium to make it a PL ground.

If that happened that would be brilliant, as you cannot beat the City Ground, all you need is, is to do up the main stand,a face lift and a few touches, and you have a great Premier League Ground which cannot be beat on location

I think it will take a bit more than that. The main stand needs rebuilding with an extra 5000 seats minimum and will not be done in less than nine months at best. I sit in the Brian Clough stand (someone has to) and the concourses are too narrow. Going to the toilet at half time is bad enough, getting a drink is a none starter unless you miss five minutes of the first half which I am not prepared to do. The Bridgford End should also sweep round to join up with a new main stand (an extra couple of thousand seats perhaps). I'd also like to see the corners of the Trent End stand filled in, and a big screen eventually.

To think talk is on new players, new stands, and new heights, but doughty and his estate could have easily asked for their money back after the stick they got near the end of their tenure. We wouldnt even have a club to support, nevermind have sights on the prem.

How lucky we have been in the last few months.

I'd sooner stay at the CG.

Redevelopment of the Main Stand would be nice if they could get panning permission.

I'd also like to see the new style standing pens that can be converted to seats if required.

I too sit in the upper BC. As redfor states the concourses are too small. It would be good to try and use the space at the back. Add mezanine and introduce a sitting area. I would also encourage poster pictures of past glaory days and facts about the club. Many people come for the first time and it would introduce them to all our history. We should be proud of it and put it on display.

A big screen would be good too.

I'm in 2 minds re: moving grounds.

Whilst I love the City Ground, it is getting ridiculously out of date, and the Main Stand and BC Stand probably need replacing. A new stadium as part of a wider redevelopment of the Eastside area, together with better infrastructure (tram extension?) and retail, would be absolutely superb for the city, and would give us an up to date stadium hopefully on a par with some of the best in the country - within a stone's throw of the City Ground.

I'd much rather stay at the CG. Modify the Main Stand to provide a capacity of approx 35k. That would be just right.

If we did move to a new ground, I wouldn't want to be lumbered with the type of dull, soulless non-entity that leicester fans have.

Still, first things first - just enjoying what's happening on the pitch.

<OK>

I have Leicester mates and they hate it

Even some Derby fans hate their flatpack too

At least PP (and the Ricoh for that matter) has a bit of asymmetry.

The CG is a bit of a mish-mash but it has character and is in a wonderful location.

Leicester's flat-pack is completely devoid of any character. Looks like it was thrown up overnight (only takes a few fans to jump up and down and the whole thing shakes and wobbles underfoot).

I'd hate to move grounds. I'd be absolutely gutted if we did. I don't think some realise how lucky we are to have the city ground where it is.

I wouldn't even bother changing the main stand. Fair enough if we could tart it up a bit. Coat of paint or whatever. I just can't see the point. We'd never sell out more seats on a regular basis, they go on about corporate hospitality but we're Nottingham forest not Arsenal.

People say a move will make us money, the sheep moved they got bigger crowds, they still make less than us through the gates. Or at least the figures for a couple of seasons said they did, and their crowds are smaller now.

I think we'd lose a lot more than we gained. All you need is a seat and a half time pint and maybe pie. We've got that now.

Any improvements to the ground would definitely need to see a vast improvement in our hospitality / function capabilities. We're miles behind other teams (like Derby for example) when it comes to this. If we stay at the CG then the only time I can see this happening is when (if) we build a new main stand.

if we move to a new ground ticket prices WILL go up and you'd want to be in the prem tidy up the CG add more seats for when/hopefully we are in the prem because if we moved and still played championship football higher prices to pay for new ground and a lot more empty seats
