We also got Sharp on season long loan and Cox for £1.2m, bought others too including Lansbury. These players were available at the time.
Pep's - I know and it's a case of lucky Forest really following their 'real' takeover. Wish we had the same kudos. They are all players we would have liked but well out of our current budget I'm afraid although, I am sure that is Warnock's fault as well.

I'd put the following clubs on a different level to us based on resources, whether that be transfer fees or wage budgets; Leicester, Cardiff, Blackburn, Hull, Forest, Wolves, Brighton, Birmingham, Blackpool and Bolton.
Which is why if we finish midtable again, the only person i will blame will be Ken Bates for not making a bigger proportion of revenue available to the squad and could even go as far as criticising him for the shocking crowds at Elland Road which can't help the team.
I don't think any of the signings have been disgraceful, just a lot of average ones, but at the end of the day that's all we are with Ken Bates in charge anyway.
Just flushed a bit of pap away and I imagine the rats will be running like hell now !!!
SKB whilst I wholeheartedly agree with you fella that's not the case according to some on here.
Apologies but I just flushed one of them away because he doesn't add any value and shouldn't be on here anyhow because he has an early start with his sandwich run around Watford tomorrow.
Personally I would put us closer to 3 million when you take loans and frees into account.
Which puts us smack in the middle of spending.
I think we should be doing better as that dosent takke into account the pl;ayers we had to begin with

I think bates' reputation didn't help. Players know. Ore about the football landscape than we do and targets were clued up! You also have to remember that we had to rebuild almost ALL our team.
MP - good point although, I didn't factor the loans and freebies which the other clubs have nor wages in which case the gulf would probably be greater with some of the upper tier sides within our division.
I think the reality is that we can safely say many of the big hitters from my list attract the better loans because they pay more.
To be honest I am not sure what I really expected from us this season following the lack of real investment by which I mean retaining your best players and spending on top like most others. I didn't expect promotion unless we invested a lot more which we haven't. Mid table mediocrity was my suspicion unless positive change evolved and that seems to be our destiny at the moment.
We obviously need to be better than late but, when lulls come you need options to effect change and at the minute I am not convinced that we have those options.
You also have to remember that we had to rebuild almost ALL our team.

He's got no funds you argue but generally speaking very few clubs in this league actually have.
------------------------
If that aimed at me, you've got it wrong i never said that.
You can tell the fake fans who never go to games
Pearce has been a disppointment, lees is poor and becchio has been poor this season
Everyone one here who goes says the same
And peltier cost more than peace
I always appreciated how difficult the job under Grayson was and when Johnson and Kilkenny left, Brown came in along with Vayrynen. Also Clayton stepped into the first 11. Vayrynen has gone because he was terrible, Clayton was sacrificed to generate funds or because he didn't create a big enough impression whilst Warnock was here. Brown is a year older. Norris, Green and Austin have all come in, but Howson has still not been replaced adequately, basically because it's practically impossible given our resources.
Gradel was then sold. No replacement arriving until Townsend (loan player) and Rogers (cheap gamble, not good enough. So another player virtually impossible to replace.
Snodgrass finally gave up on us this summer again, not replaced.
In my opinion the squad Warnock was left was probably the weakest since we started the season on -15 in league 1.
Add in the fact that it is tough to attract the top players when all the club signals is that it is a selling club going nowhere. If you are a top Championship footballer looking for a move to either Leeds or Cardiff with your wage potential at both clubs the same, you see Leeds sell their best player Snodgrass and Cardiff state Whittingham is not for sale and bring in the likes of Bellamy, it is a simple decision who to sign for.

I go and dont say the same I think becchio is class when he gets balls in the box
Had none from last 3 games. Is he not out top scorer?
Where have you got them sums from? Since when have Leicester spent £5m this season?
Meme
So you rate Pearce and lees ???
Has becchio played well this season ???
You rate becchio I don't rate players who can't do the basics
If that aimed at me, you've got it wrong i never said that.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wakey - nope not aimed at you because you are not intelligent enough to be that stupid if you can forgive the oxymoron.
I think there must be a problem with my drains because that pap keeps resurfacing ?
Benny...
Wonderful thread.
Gomez....! How much / How many goals..?
Baldock...! How much / How many goals...?
Best...! How much / How many goals...?
Becchio...! How much / How many goals...?
Furthermore we will soon have Mr McCormack back.
Wakey - apologies whatever it is you've got it must be catching because ur right Pearce of course (who you don't rate amongst others) wasn't our most expensive signing if undisclosed reports are to be believed - £600K was the rumoured fee for Peltier so I bow to your genius.
As for Becchio, I try and ignore your constant carping and vitriol about him but, you laddy haver a very short memory. We ain't got a good side at all this season and as meme says Becchio is not always getting the service.
Still, very good habit to have a striker who is pants but just happens to have a very decent goals return when he is playing so poorly.
Imagine what might happen if he suddenly rediscovers his form and gets better service ?

Becchio
Has got 1 goal in last ten games which weren't pens
He's struggling big time, anyone who goes can see it.
Yeah the team isn't helping him, but he's bringing nothing to the team at the moment and is very lucky we haven't anyone else or he'd be dropped.
If people don't see it because they don't go to games fair enough but them who do.
And where I sit am one of the least critical of him, most rate him a lot less than i do
Is someone being a tad repetitive...?
Well who'd have thought it...?
Benny did you just get them sums out of thin air?
Liw
Being unfair on Pearce he will learn. Don't forget this is his only 2end season at this level at a new bigeye club. Dont rate Lees at all will not get much better. Where as I think Pearce will do.
Becchio needs balls in the box and has got none over last few games. Can only think of one good ball he has had in from the wing and he won it but it got blocked. He has done good this season but last 3 games has been poor. But so has the rest. Does not help he knows he is in the team every week.
n my opinion the squad Warnock was left was probably the weakest since we started the season on -15 in league 1
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SKB - another 100% spot on comment.
Incidentally, you are also correct about the club not replacing the genuine talent that was flogged off with like for like because of course, Bates cashes in all of the time.
The single biggest loss for me was Max Gradel - he was awesome that last season and also appeared to have 'grown-up' a lot. Whether he wanted to go 'home' to France or not he still would have been sold and of that there can be no doubt.
