If players can get sent off or banned for abusive language then refs should be no different.

Spanish twát is xenophobic but both are equally unacceptable.
If players can get sent off or banned for abusive language then refs should be no different.

when has this ever happened in the PL, the referees are expected to take abuse in the PL in order to keep 22 players on the pitch and not harm the brand, im amazed the ref's over the years havent gone on strike with the abuse they have to put up with and the way the premier league put pressure on them concerning the abuse they recieve.

Mascherano sent off for dissent at Old Trafford.
The definition of racism includes both ethnicity and nationality.
So yes it's racist.
GTA.........................That's the problem, players DO NOT get sent off for abusive language.
It has been accepted by the FA & Referees that swearing is normal industrial language and should only be punished in the most extreme cases.
It is a cautionable offence to show dissent towards a referee's decision but is rarely acted on, however remove your shirt after scoring and its a straight yellow card!!
I think if anyone other than the Captain approaches the referee about an incident then that person should automatically be booked, if another player in the same team does the same thing then another booking, however if a third person should do so from the sam team then it should be a straight red card. That would soon sort dissent out!
Let him ref the next chaaavs game
If he said something racist then he will fit right in at Stamford bridge with John Terry and co
no he got booked for dissent GTA, if he hadnt made a reckless challenge earlier in the game he would still have been on the pitch
The referees are obliged to sent footballers off for foul and abusive language. Just because they choose not to follow that obligation does not give them the right to be foul and abusive themselves.

No chance, Rooney would get sent off every game he plays and Gill won't want that
There is nothing more I would love to see then referees sending off abusive players. I've lost count of the amount of times the likes of Rooney, Gerrard, Cashley and JT have told refs to fúck off or something along those lines and get away with it without even a warning and then you have guys like Mancini and Fabregas who were killing the game because they wave imaginary cards. Tell me which is really worse.
GTA the premier league put pressure on the refs not to send off players for abusive language and the referee has to think of his career and his livelihood if he starts sending off players he will soon get kicked off the premier league list and its not as if they are paid millions and will never have to work again.
What's your point GTA?
Bearing in mind all we know about what Battenburg said is media speculation...

It's time to bring in robot refs
If the PL are putting so much pressure on that refs can not punish guys who tell them to fúck off then they should go on strike.
Fact is no professional of any kind should have to live with being abused and nobody would ever get sacked should they decide to stand up to it.
It's time to bring out the cake
