Any club willing to appoint the likes of Mark Hughes, Brian Kidd and Steve Kean would probably be just as happy with a lump of Brie at the helm. It would certainly have more charisma than any if the afore mentioned names.
Maybe they just want to give us more chicken money? £8M outta do it. Unless Grayson goes and looks at the place first, in which case I imagine he'd sooner move to AFC Helmond Province.
If he wants to go, let him go.
Agree, Novak, then get Holloway.
If they are prepared to pay the going rate for him then let him go
Read Holloways autobiography Wethers.....No way he'd come here, he hates us!
pay out a good lump in compensation...????
rhodes knew it was sh-t or bust for rovers this season..he would easily be able to move on if it goes t-ts up..
grayson is a different matter, should the "poison chalice" at the "chicken coop" , do for him...
its one of them jobs at the moment where if you are associated with it after it fails you will be tarnished for a good time to come..
it might also be a right load of old bollox...
grayson did well with blackpool..
le-ds should have gone up when he was in charge..
we got promotion on penalties..
we are doing ok, position wise at this moment in time..
thats the total sum of his achievements so far..
suffice to say, he hasnt worked with an 8 milion pound striker as yet, although he has worked with an 8 bob central defence and hasnt made that work as yet..
the next big test is january...for deano and for simon..they will both still be here..
Graysons' only been here 5 minutes, it would be a massive smack in the face for Deano if he said he wanted out so soon. There's no way Grayson will go for that job, or any job at the moment..he's getting pretty much what he wants at Town and is still building his team up.
Having said that, it's suprising how many of you are saying let him go...is that 'cos we've just badly lost 2 games ? If we'd won those games and were sitting pretty in 2nd place, rather than 9th, would you still be saying let him go ?
Anyway, he won't go...not yet.
jacko..
i think its more people becoming more blase about football peoples dedication to a particular job/club..
if he was offered enough and the compo was enough he would go..
it wont happen on this occasion but itll happen somewhere else..
Jacko, i couldn't care if he'd won the last 100 games, i'd still let him go if the price was right.
Cash is King in this game
I said let him go because to me managers are one of the most dispensable assets in the modern game.
If Grayson did go, I don't think Deano would struggle to attract a good boss. We're in a good position in the league, our infrastructure is as good as anyones in this division and we have cash to spend. We don't appear to have much trouble selling the club to potential transfer targets, I can't see managers being any different.
My personal opinion is that if they really want him, and are willing to pay hefty compensation to achieve this, then he would go. Why not? Rovers have possibly the best squad in this division and should realistically be looking to bounce straight back to the top level. In terms of adding to his reputation, he could very well take the job and add two consecutive promotions to his already excellent CV.
And if he does go, I'll say good luck and move on as quickly as that, whilst savouring yet more funds with which to carry on with our own project.
As Wakey correctly said, cash is king.
cash is king..
8 million waiting, whilst we have vaughan(sick note), beckford(up and down) and hamill(looks the part-might not be) all on loan.. 2 starting centre backs who look hopeless and a midfield who are inconsistent(to say the least)...
it certainly is king...as long as you spend it wisely and at the right time(or better than that-get it into the club at the right time, not just before the window closes)...
the idea of just letting players and managers go because someone offers just enough or enough compensation does not bode well for any "future" we think we might have.. at some point there has to be a "no"...
we either believe we can play with the "big boys" in this league or we dont.. that goes from the top down at town..
the idea of looking to consolidate before a ball was kicked is the wrong one.. you end up mid table, you dont aim for it..
if you want to be a "contender" then behave like one....
le-ds lost on saturday but the management and the fans are talking about adding a couple of players and then getting up around the top, they firmly believe they should be there..
arrogance?? maybe... firm belief, more likely..
we are talking about learning cruves and letting ourselves down and what a good start etc, its not designed to motivate and aim higher..
All well and good 38, but as we saw with Rhodes, if someone wants something else, ultimately they generally get it as nobody wants a 'moper' at the club as it just damages morale all round.
Better get used to it. Unless you are a massive club then getting cherry picked is commonplace, something that we may find a regular occurrence now we're a Championship side and we have a better standard of player on the books.
That's football sadly.
As for Leeds, their fans are dreamers in the main. They talk about signing him and him and him, yet can't keep their best talent out of the clutches of the mighty Norwich City, adding further weight to my above comment. F-ck what Leeds fans want. We're on the right path under the ownership of Dean Hoyle. If Grayson wants to be a part of it, fine. If he doesn't, also fine. I believe in our plan with or without Grayson.
If anybody wants to leave, Player or manager or coaching staff, Let them go, Once your head is turned there is nothing anyone can do about it,,,, If Larry left, Hoyley would get another nice chunk of compo,,,, Mad Dog next time Deano.

nice to have 8 million quid ...if we dont/cant spend it(and cant is a real possibility) then deano could at least give us a few quid back for the last two loads of sh-te..???
we could also sell hunt and smithies, not replace them either and have a super bank balance... build a team around clarke/gerrard/lee of other biggish lads who just cant cut it in the bigger leagues??? always hoping keiths legs hold out and that clayton can actually put input into more than one game a month...
paying way over the odds for beckford in january isnt the way forward.. and hoping that vaughan;; A. stays fit for more than a game a month..B. that he has a great season with us...C..That norwich dont want him back, dont ask a fortune for him or we dont get gazzumped by someone else..
Isnt either....
So, nobody thinks it will be the 'end' for Town if he left ? Considering how long Deano hung on to LC, and the debate about him leaving or staying...this is remarkable.
I would have to agree though...we are far more attractive now and as such can attract far more high profile managers (and players). If SG wanted to go, then there's not much choice is there ?
It would leave question marks about his loyalty though...I mean, you can't keep swapping jobs..at some stage you have to show some commitment and loyalty, don't you ?
So, who would you like to replace him...Steve Kean ?
Erm....I don't think anybody said sell everyone and don't replace them, 38. Calm down tiger.
Hoyle said when interviewed about the Rhodes deal that taking young players, improving them, and then selling for a good fee is "integral" to our long term strategy. Not slightly important, but integral.
Our current team is not a top six side, not in my opinion. So we invest. We sell on again and we invest again. It's not like we're that one key player away from Champions League football. We are new boys in a strong division and we are still finding our feet. Many players will come and go and I dare say a manager or two before we reach the promised land. Surely you realise that?
you are not required to show any loyalty or commitment jacko..
there used to be signing on bonuses that rewarded straight away a player who signed on for longer..those bonuses are now covered in the sale of that "loyal" player by the team purchasing him..
like "hookers", go to the higest bidder, what the f-ck he looks like does not matter.. I give you Jordan Rhodes, went to a club in turmoil, who will fall apart totally if they dont get promotion, he isnt bothered he will just move on if it hits the fan..
Im seriously hoping that one of the saudi princes takes over barnet or the like..just to wait for footballers to say "Its a club with ambition" "i like the manager and the set up" (Campbell-when he went to notts county) and other assorted total bollox rather than saying, "its a f-cking big pay day for someone who is past it like me"..... or "given my record outside the game and the amount of injuries I have had, its a huge pay day"...
"......like "hookers", go to the higest bidder"
They're auctioning them off nowadays?!!
The swear jar in your house must pay for a couple of good holidays for your mob 38,

"Throwing his hat in the ring"
Now there's a top euphemism if ever there was one
Grayson is an also ran for the Blackburn job at 16:1, well behind favourites Henning Berg, Holloway, Black, Redknapp, Solksjaer, Shearer, Sherwood, Hoddle, Mckinlay, and Flitcroft.
In fact I would say that 38 has just as much chance as Grayson of landing the job.
cant take the job on mirf..
i cant rip myself off and then leave "for the new challenge"..
could do it part time, wednesdays are usually good for me..
i bet nuno gomez is enjoying the delights of blackburn, the beaches and the nightlife etc..
grayson is "up and coming", they spent 8 million on a 3rd division striker, i think they will be looking for a bigger "name"....
Said before I would "fall out" with footballers in 5 minutes flat if they were "working" for me..
As you may have guessed they annoy me enough now..
