Return of the Mack.
A quality, wholehearted player who I rate very highly. He wears the shirt with pride.
He got a lot of stick in the last few years for being a Ray Wilkins type player. That stick was when Pesch was manager, confidence was rock bottom, no-one was creative on the pitch, no-one was making runs and goals were scarce.
I think he is a combative player - breaking up play and constantly nibbling away at players. He would work well alongside Lee Bell. I think the player who has most to fear is Robbie Weir who has had quite a lot of disappointing games.
Really quiet on here this week - is everybody off on holiday coz it's half term lol????????
Delighted to see a good wholehearted player like Macca back. May take him a few games to get firing again, but an excellent addition to a combative midfield. Like the sound of Bell and Macca in the middle - gives us bite!
Be interesting to see what side GR puts out on Sunday.
I dont think our midfield players have anything to fear with the return of the Mac.Hes been a great servant to our club but im afraid we have moved on with better players in the middle of the park,he will only play a supporting role on the bench or even go out on loan to increase his fitness.Weir for me is a very good player and i would pick him in front af Macca anytime,a far superior player.
Been reading this site (and the old 606 one as well) and thought it was time to post something having not done so for donkey's years.
I'm with Emnez on this and think that McGrath is a valued part of the history of the club, but really has little to offer now other than cover to the first team. The last two seasons quite often saw play break down when the ball reached him, usually via a 'hoofed' ball up the field. He wasn't helped last year by having Adam Bolder alongside him though it has to be said.
Weir will come good and quite possibly Dyer is ahead of Macca for a central midfield berth anyway.
Looking forward to this afternoon as it is my first opportunity to see Burton play since the 4-0 drubbing of Oxford. Last season I think I missed four or five matches in total, but the enthusiasm waned over the summer, as it seems to for a good few hundred others. Absence makes the heart grow fonder so they say and I'll be up on the Pop' with friends later today.
