He was rubbish, but unfair to judge him just on this one game.
Needs games, but was awful
The only difference between Sturridge and Torres is appearance.
Selfish................shooting from stoopid angles as usual.
dont get me wrong, I actually like the fact he is willing to shoot from anywhere, but ONLY if nobody else is better placed.
He STILL has not taken this on board and although 1 match is probably too soon to judge......I still am
But my head tells me that If Sturridge still won't pass after all this time will he ever?
Thought he grew into the game really well! A few more games under his belt he will be a lot more potent than old nando
The morale of the story is we need a new striker
If he won't pass to players he won't be better than Nando. The depressing thing is that i have given Torres so much stick on here and now i fear he is still a better option than Sturridge...................that makes me depressed!
We have Torres who is afraid to shoot and Sturridge who will not stop shooting.
Shoot them both
Seems unanimous that he was far from great. Does he at least get himself into goal-scoring positions? With Hazmato behind him, creating one chance after another, positioning is probably the most important skill he will need to get goals.
Tbh I think tonight he was too eager to impress and so tried to do unnecessary flicks and backheels. Hopefully that takes away the stress and we might get a better performance next time. I do think Sturridge will only really work as a lone striker if we play counter attacking football though
The best thing I can say about Sturridge is that he can play as bad as that but still keep his confidence up throughout the game and eventually take a chance.............mentally he is strong or at least thick
Sturridge is getting back in the groove baby, watch out the next few Premier League games, he will be great
He was OK/average. Decision making let him down
Had some good link up play but at the same time was dreadful when in the same situation a few minutes later
Took his goal well although it was on a plate.
Alright, so at least there's some reason for optimism. Hopefully, he gets a decent run, and demonstrates that he can play as CF, as we really have no options other than him and Torres at the moment.
He played well! Seriously. Have no idea why everyone is so negative. A bit selfish, but he's actually willing to take a player on. Took his goal very well. Looks streets ahead of Torres in terms of composure.
Looks streets ahead of Torres in terms of composure.
----------------------
How can you say he is composed when he wildy shoots from impossible angles instead of play a team mate in on goal, plus he was totally lacking in composure with his touch, Christ Moses picked him out superbly early on and he was totally uncomposed
He's selfish. There's no doubting that. But he's confident. You can't really complain when he's scoring goals. Btw, I missed the first half before Hernandez's goal, so I'm not sure about what he was like then, but I thought he played OK in the second half and in ET.
His first half performance was just woeful so you did well to miss it..
His attempted backheel from the corner when nobody else was alert
Is everyone forgetting this is his first start this season?
He will be streets ahead of Torres in a couple of games, still a bit rusty atm.
Many will tell you he was pants...he was busy & positive
shooting woeful at times..but prepared to have a go...decision making was lacking at times
