I don't think anyone who is a Bolton legend, would criticise a new Bolton manager.
The fact that he is friendly with Owen would have no bearing on it. The only thing that might have had a bearing would have been if they knew each other and didn't get on. Happily that doesn't seem to be the situation.
I'm sure there paths have crossed numerous times before. Both being from north of the boarder, of similar age and played in the same league at a similar standard. They will probably get on like a barn on fire.
His articles were becoming a joke under coyle so it is nice for it to have freshened up
