thats true but sometimes you can just tell by looking at a player thats hes just not very good, i mean podolski hasent scored a bucket load but when you actually watch him play he has so much more about him than giroud

Sorry, really you didnt watch our games. This is the proof.
I've embarrassed myself? I said give him time. But for now, he isn't getting the goals that you're missing from RVP.

if your referring to today both of your strikers were cack, at least podolski has a excuse over the last few weeks, germanys front line striker for the past 5 years is being played on the wing?
We have really bigger problems than our CF position.
Well the topic of the article is strikers. So I thought I'd stick to it.

what? He is played on the wing most of the time in Germany too? What you are on about.
He is weaker at the moment than Giroud by far. Its not even close.
If you have real quality in attack it changes the game completely and puts less pressure on your midfield and defence. These quality forwards are much better in possession in the final third than what we currently have. Thus the game changes drastically.
This is what was apparent from Manchester United today. They do not have a real quality midfield or defence. But they are fantastic in attack.
This Arsenal team is now the proverbial ship without a rudder.
Today at Old Trafford the players did not seem to care, there was no energy, very little effort and absolutely no leadership either on the field or from the sidelines. Arsenal FC owners/management need to quickly take a look at this mess, it isn't going to get better by itself!

exactly, arsenals supposed superior midfield couldn't even overpower carrick and cleverley in the centre today
This season Giroud>Podolski

United_kaz: If you are agreeing with on that above. Can you see why I am not criticise Giroud alone.
Ok gunnerthru, better at retaining possession in the opponents half/territory. Not necessarily just the final third. You will see them dropping really deep to the centre circle at times if needed to pick the ball up. And when they get it they are clinical and direct. Ala Rooney and Van Persie. Not indecisive and indifferent ala Arsenal.

That is because Wenger failed to utilize the wings.

Ah in the end there we are. Why we criticise our strikers when no ball from the midfield were played forward. On top of that we cant cross or take something out from any set piece. United won possession in midfield and played with pace when they conquered the ball to the or to any other striker. What United did really well is that they used the whole field especially in the first half.
Two words could perhaps clinch this entire argument, unlikely as it may seem, in favour of the OP:
Francis Jeffers.

of course its not his fault only but he is very wastefull when he does get chances
Today he got half chances United_kaz. Not really chances where you can say you have to score that. Van Persie had a greater chance upfront and messed it up.
I give you that. I am not satisfied with Giroud at all but you have to look deeper. If you watch us playing every and the way we do every CF would struggle even van Persie would be isolated.
*every game and the way we did
my english let me down again.
but vp scored 30+ goals without your best creative player(corzola) last season? i dont watch all arsenal games but have you changed your style so much from last year?
Sometimes it's up to the strikers to find their way into the game when the opposition is defending well and pressing hard. This is what separates the good strikers from the best in my opinion. They have better link-up play with the other players, they have better positioning and a knack of being in the right place to pick the ball up etc.
Not all players are capable of doing this week in/week out and even the best have off-days but I'm worried from what I've seen offensively from us this season.
In recent years it's been defensive problems and we've been strong offensively. Now we seem relatively weaker offensively and are still making regular mistakes defensively. This start of season defensive form has too soon transpired.
I'm a big believer in the old adage that the best form of defence is a good offence. I would rather us keep the opposition at bay for most of the match to keep the pressure off of the defence.
The current crop deserve more time and I will refuse to judge them too harshly (particularly the new players) individually until next season. We need to build the chemistry and understanding. There is a lot of work to be done in this department if we are going to make fourth.
Cazorla wasnt at our club last season. Laugh Kaz but actually we had the same problems even with van Persie in our side where he got calm and got no service.
