That I totally agree with.
also, for as well as jones has done, he is so slow with distribution which is where Reina excels.
Them two along with Lucas makes a massive difference IMO

Why have you mentioned wisdom yet not enrique, i feel far more confident in wisdom than him

Wisdom is a centre back filling as a right back and we can't expect him to play the attack minded role. Anyone know when Johnson is back?

As for Downing, why the feck did he come on? Did he even touch the ball? Why not bring on Assaidi?

Don't know if downing did get the ball, certainly didn't do much with it.

Wisdom looks like he could be a solid player, but he doesn't offer much going forward.

Enrique? Wow. Looks clueless on the ball, even though his pass for the goal was brilliant.

Spot on article, Johnson's fantastic and when he's missing, we're effectively minus an attacker, because it's just the front 3 and maybe one midfielder trying to unlock the opposition defence.

Downing supplied a great cross straight on Jonjo's head, but his header was weak and straight at the keeper.

That was Downing's problem all last season as well.

He doesn't work in our team because we don't have enough players who can attack crosses, which is Downing's only strength.

If you watch Sterling he very rarely crosses the ball, that is why he is playing and Downing isn't.

Another reason is that sterling gets stuck in.

Downing had a 50/50 with jonas today and wasn't committed. The crowd quite rightly roasted him for it.

Johnson is a big loss and when both him and Kelly are fit I'd hope we don't see Wisdom at right back again.

Wisdom isn't up to it yet. Especially getting forward.

I know it's not his position but we're suffering with both Johnson and Kelly out and Enrique not back to the form when we signed him.

I don't see what wisdom has done wrong, he has been solid apart from the everton game.

I know hes not amazing going forward but hes a cb

Wisdom hasn't done much wrong and defensively he's pretty solid, however offensively he's much too slow and offers nothing. He's a good centre back. I don't particularly like Kelly at right back either but he has a bit of pace and can whip the ball in.

Can't wait for Johnson to get back. He's a big loss.

an unmarked man scored from his flank today. That new Everton bloke ripped him to pieces.

I like him but he's not ready to be a rightback and unfortunately for him, that's where he's playing.

Kelly's okay when there's space for him to run into; he absolutely eats up ground when he hits top gear, with or without the ball.

Unfortunately, most teams don't leave an awful lot of space when they play us, and Kelly looks a bit blunt.

I think ultimately Mclaughlin will overtake Wisdom and Kelly as Johnson's understudy.

Wisdom is clearly a very good defender but you need more at full back, especially in Rodgers style.

McLaughlin loves going forward and is good on the ball.

Kelly takes one step forward and two back with his constant injury problems, not his fault but football is a ruthless business.

Ironically I think we might sign a currently injured player next summer, who can play both sides like Johnson, Swansea's Neil Taylor.
