What is happening at Bolton ?

I'm happy with most of the players who have left. And I trust that Coyle wouldn't let all these players leave if he didn't have other signings lined up.

Got to admit I am not too impressed with recruitment so far this summer.

Most posters on here reckoned we needed 8-9 players this summer if we sell some players - we have 1!

Coyle has said he has a list of 15 or so players, we have only seen one! The season starts in what, 3-4 weeks?! We need some players coming in.

I have no doubt that behind the scenes Coyle, Garty and Eddie are working hard, but we need to stet making potential signings into confirmed signings.

At the moment I'm not too bothered about it. Yes it is worrying but I have full confidence in Coyle and Gartside to get the players - god knows they are the men to do it!!

Its like repairing a car, its always going to look worse after you have taken off all the parts but once you fit the new shiny bits, it will look better.

My only concern is that will it be ready on time? it will be close!!

I'm giving the club 7 days before I panic. Now back after the USA trip, I'm expecting action...

No-one has left so far who was a ridiculously needed and left us in ruin, large numbers have gone but they were bit part or not good enough. If by the end of the window we have only Pratley, ok time to panic, but no point panicking until September 1st, and even then support dnt panic!

We're almost definitely (apparently) going to sign Tyrone Mears, Chris Eagles, Jeffren and Reo-Coker by Monday for a combined fee of 8Mill.

4 players in pretty much means every position is covered except for forwards - All with the money we've made on selling players the last month.

I'd say that was exceptional considering every player in would be better than the ones they've replaced...And however grim our financial situation is, we'll still have at least enough money to bring in 1 decent striker permanently, and 1 on loan (sturridge).

Even if you go down the "I'll only get excited when I see the news on Skysports' route, it's a long way off panicking.

Oh, and this is all without needing to sell Cahill.

Nope. I don't post much cos I can't get on this at work.

Just read on another website we are in for Eagles & Mears from the mighty Burnley, 3mil for both. I can't vouch for the source, but posters are saying he is reliable.

Sturridge you beat me to it!

I'd very much take Eagles and Mears, Reo Coker is all but ours aswell, Jeffren would give us some unbelievable talent on the left, or up top depending on where Coyle wants him.

I'd have Reo-Coker & Jeffren deffo. Eagles would be good bench player. Mears - i'll pass on, we've got enough average defenders already.

Unless Cahill replacement is Sam Ricketts, Mears n Steinnsson o battle put rb. I'd much rather have Eagles than someone like SWP, cost effective and decent enough player

Presuming we dont sell Cahill and we bring in all players mentioned that would give us a squad of:

GK: Jussi, Boggers, Lainton
RB: Steinsson, Mears, Ricketts
CB: Cahill, Wheater, Knight, Connolly
LB: Robbo, Alonso
RM: Chungy, Eagles
CM: Holden, Muamba, Davis, Sparkey, Pratley, NRC
LM: Petrov, Gardner
ST: SKD, Klas, Blake, Oba, Eaves, ?Loan, ?New

Thats a pretty strong squad with quite a few versatile players in there capable of covering positions when there are injuries.

I'm still worried most about lb as although robbo fives heart he is not perm standard n gives away far too many fk in danger areas n I've only seen alonso couple times so can't really make judgement but if he can't get picked ahead on robbo he can't be that good ( I know he's young first season blah blah) anyone know of any lb in our price range who would b available or been linked with?

Like a lot of posters I am getting frustrated by the lack of movement in the transfer market however in my view this is easily explained by a number of factors; Villa have £40m to spend so the clubs/agents are all bumping up their prices to try and get some of it ( Wigan), average players are asking too much in wages ( Dann and Gibson -£40k a week for a reserve player!),bigger clubs are trying to bully smaller clubs ( Arsenal offering £10m for Jagielka) and finally just agents being agents feeding rumours to the press to try and get the best deals for their players - the two that concerned us in the last couple of days are Reo-Coker in talks with Bolton or Reo- Coker going to Leics because we can't afford his wages, Aresnal have walked away from Cahill due to Bolton's demands or Arsenal to bid for Cahill as soon as he gets back from the US tour. You could go on and on its just how the market is.
Moving on - Eagles looks like a good deal not too sure about Mears but he is very intelligent and has a turn of pace, my frustration would be why has it taken so long to make the deal.
Still no news on a new striker, I still think we will get Sturridge back ( Drogba has just signed a contract extension) as he won't sit on the bench however DJ is still at Balckpool, has just turned down a move th QPR and think he would be a great addition to the squad.

I'd be very surprised if Sturridge left Chelsea due to their lack of "homegrown players". However, Chelsea don't do common sense and Villas Boas has said he may let him go. If we were to get him back i'd be very confident about the upcoming season!
