There will be better centre halfs in Spain than Puyol playing for a lower league side. The bloke had been injury hit for 3 years, is slower than ever and is 35 next year. If he is still the best the league it says little about the defenders over there. I imagine this is ignorance on our part and there is probably some centre half at Getafe who is a lot better than credited for.

Completely disagree Daz, it's no myth.

Alves and Valdez awful imo. Ronaldo destroys the pair of them almost everytime they meet. Of course there's no shame in that, but it happens against the weaker sides too. Alves rarely gets tested against the weaker sides, but when he does, he is worse than Bramble at times. His positioning is awful and he's got the brain of a 5 year old. A really dopey defender.

Cech is miles better than De Gea.

Every time I watch Madrid he rarely consistently causes them problems down the left. He's had times where he's been class down that side, this season and last in the first half, but of the times he's played him Alves usually copes well with him.
