A good idea?

Every good club has got 2-3 players that could be classed as a marquee player...Tigers have Benji & Robbie Farah, South's have Inglis & Sam Burgess.....Melb have Cronk, Slater & Smith.
These players already get good wages and I can see a player revolt when his mate is classed as a marguee player and he isn't.
All this idea will do, is give the clubs that can't work out their figures correctly a chance to grab a top notch player in amongst the also-rans. Everybody knows one player does not make a team no matter how good he/she is.

Souths, agreed, they have to do this in soccer/football in Oz to raise the profile. There is no such problem in the NRL.

That said, I think the NRL should recognise the clubs who create their own stars rather than just buying in good players. How a certain club in the north west of Sydney balance the books is a mystery to me

Gerry....There is an arguement going on as we speak between Ian Shubert (Salary Cap Boss) and the Parramatta club over the value in which Israel Folau gets registered at.
(this is the bit that's get's me)....Shubert said he will not except a registered fee of anything under 400K for Folau.
So what he is saying is......a player can earn 600K but it's o.k to list him as getting 400k.
I thought the whole idea of a salary cap and registered to the NRL was to keep an eye on what club is spending what..???
I'm very surprised the press haven't dug deeper into Shuberts comment...

The first rule of any business after start up costs is that you can' have more money going out than coming in. Rugby League should always remember this.
