MU were struggling to create chances against us until Hernandez came on. Young was invisible. Hernandez was the difference between us having a good chance of winning and us losing.
A number of our players were on international duty this week. Wonder if the travelling left some of them a bit flat. Still think we'd have lost, particularly with a dodgy linesman.
Villa need to go for - attack - the smaller teams when they meet them.
Win 4-3. It's the win that matters.
Your gaffer seems too scared to attack. And the team is not good enough to defend!
It's really worrying if we think of the facts:
1) In the bottom 3.
2) Have to play Arsenal + Liverpool in the next month
3) Can't defend for toffee
4) No presence in midfield
5) Manager prefers to play average players like Westwood over experienced players like El Ahmadi + alienates other key experienced international players like Bent + N'Zogbia
6) We've won 2 games all season in the league
7) We've sold Barry, Milner, Young + Downing in last four years + lost Laursen/Petrov to serious injury/illness, yet no money has really been spent replacing these players despite an urgent need to do so + Academy players not being good enough to replace them
I saw evidence against United that Villa were prepared to play with passion and might even have enough quality to climb to midtable, but it seems that it was just United playing very poorly. City proved that we are not only a mediocre team but also a team that rolls over gladly when it comes up against quality. Norwich are no better than us in terms of quality, they're worse in my opinion, but they don't pander to the big teams. They fight tooth and nail to win points and they know they aren't very good + have to work hard, unlike our players who think they are the best thing since sliced bread.
If things don't pick up and we're in the bottom 3 by January, I'll be worried about where we're going. Lerner won't sell up, but will he actually invest? He needs to. And is Lambert really the man to trust with money? He did sign Benteke, but he also signed Lowton, Westwood, Bowery, Bennett, El Ahmadi. Harry Redknapp is available and would instantly sign Villa players of real quality if he was given money to spend, plus the football would be attacking every game, no matter which team we were playing.
It seems harsh but Lambert is really not impressing me + if I were in charge of Villa I would be putting him under real pressure to start getting results and playing the likes of N'Zogbia and Bent. If he couldn't do this by January I'd wave him goodbye, because things are worse than under McLeish at the moment.

Will you still be so positive in the championship next season?
1987:
1) Bottom 3. But not too far off mid table.
2) Arsenal/Liverpool. But we've still got an easier run to the end of the year than Reading/Southampton
3) Can't defend? Great against Sunderland, pretty good against United (Hernandez was the difference, great player). OK against MC until two bad decisions hit us, got tired at the end, but they are the Champions.
4) No presence in midfield. We're still a bit thin, I grant you, and can't afford injury to Ireland, but it may be sorted in January.
5) Westward has only played a couple of times, and has looked good; Lambert bought him to play, not sit on the bench.
6) Only 2 wins so far. So halfway towards last seasons total already. Bet you we end up with a lot more wins than last season.
7) No money spent on replacements? What about Bent, N'zogbia, for a start?
We're going to get the odd bad result, when the match runs away from us, as we're a young team. This season is going to be ups and downs. But I reckon the ups will win.
Did Lambert play a weakened XI against City and United?
If not, he should do.
He needs to save your best players for the games that really matter.
Lambert doesn't do "give up". He goes out there to win. I think he's right. It gives the team the right attitude. What would "saving players" achieve? We weren't far off getting a point or even 3 against MU.
Paul Lambert is a dud manager!
Going all out for the win resulted in winning just 2 games with Livingston and he appears to have a similar winning mentality with your mighty villains
the funniest thing is that norwich are good now
Quickly someone give Chronic and Sally some attention, justify their existence.
Oops, I just did.
Apart from having a boss I want to dangle from an upstairs window by his ankles, not bad!
Hope you're well chap. (This kindness doesn't extend to Super Sally, I hope weasal's eat his balls).
