A good read ,but i personally think with the squad he as plus a little bit of wheeling and dealing come jan,we can still make the playoffs ,we dont lay down and loose easily anymore wich gives me hope ,there's a lot of matches to play yet ,and we have improved a great deal in 2 weeks we could improve a lot in 2 months ,only time will tell there's one thing for sure D.F.is the man for the job , if anyone can D,F, can.
My worry is still the defence. It's really been broken since the megson days when we had twenty games on the bounce without a clean sheet.
Yesterday we (yet again) gave away a soft goal and to a team that had lost four on the bounce thus throwing away two points.
I'm not crtiticising Dougie for that as there is precious little he can do about it before january anyway but the personnel he has now aren't good enough and need to be changed. Aam Bogdan is a pretty decent keeper but with the defence in front of him at the moment anyone would struggle.
Six points from the last twelve that should have been at least ten but for the way we have thrown away four points lost from winning positions tells me this is not a team that should be assuming we'll get anywhere near the play offs let alone automatic promotion just yet.
And with the recently released financial results it's hard to see where DF will get the money to make the personnel changes needed even if he knows who we should buy. I know it's only november and a lot can change in the second half of the season but I don't see any real room for much in the way of optimism here. I was at the game yesterday and frankly my opinion is we looked and played like an average championship team, something we've done more or less all season.
There's a deep malaise within our club and although I agree Owen had to go I don't think bringing in a new manager has been or will be enough to change it. At least not in the short term.
Very good read and I wholeheartedly agree with everything.
Rome wasn't built in a day and the same people moaning now about Dougie were also the ones who moaned at the start of his reign that Coyle was trying to change things too quickly and was going to be a new Sammy Lee.
In short, haters gunna hate.
I stopped paying any attention to them long ago.
Yes there are still issues to be addressed, we know that and Dougie will know that. Heck Coyle knew that he'd just run out of ideas about how to address those issues. I have faith in Dougie to know exactly what he is doing.
Oh btw LH you're on newsnow!
Fab article. I am sure we have a man with a plan in DF.
good article lh.i am happy that df is building his team from the back.i think brighton and blackburn away will tell a tale or 2 though.
I appreciate your positive feedback, guys. Thank you.

to the 1 star bandit.
LH, the 1* bandits a Muppet. I might add, no balls either.
Anyway, great article as you say to early to judge but in my opinion we will need some better quality come January. I was very disappointed with Saturdays result but it's early days.
Ignore the above my phone had an attack of the stupids!
I was going to say that for me the defence still lacks quality. I've not seen him play since DF came in so can't properly judge for myself if he has improved as people say however the sight of Knight's name on the team sheet still fills me with dread!
knights our best centre half at the moment.walks into the team ahead of ream and mills.
If we get Wheater fit early next year I hope he gets a chance to play with mills. I think would be a good partnership. It just goes to show how bad we are at the back when Knight is out performing everyone.
Embrace the 1 star bandit
Dress it up how you will but currently there seems to be no difference between a DF team and an OC team.
We can't NOT win games in this division, but I hope that we can start to get some consistency of performance. We can't keep blaming our lack of quality with the still-missing Stuart Holden, although of course he IS missed.
One thing I'm GLAD we are missing this season is (for me at least) the dread of relegation. But it's poor consolation for not pressing the top section!
Whilst I don't disagree I will always point to Reading last season.
I'll really start worrying if we are still in this position come March.
