The bookies have got Aus. $2.90 draw $2.80 Sth.A $3.00......yes pretty tight

A treat it is

Warner in his full flow. Clarke at his classy best. SA putting up fight with the few they got on field. And best of all Richie Benaud on air. If only I could filter out Slater's dross.

Never the less it's a treat to watch the game.

Clarke - brilliant.

4th 200+ within 12 months

Bradman would be proud of him.

480 plus in day one. They should have declared.

Amazing form from Clarke

If Aust. were 8 - 280 I would be delighted that Kallis and Co. have got injuries......

But in all honesty I felt sadness for not only the players and Sth.Africa but cricket fans as a whole because these injuries have taken the gloss off what was capable of being a great test match...

There saying Clarke is closing in on Mohammed Yousuf's world record of the number of runs in a calendar year and has 4 tests to get 350.

posted on 22/11/12

1 Mohammad Yousuf (Pak) - 1,788 in 11 matches at 99.33, 2006

2 IVA Richards (WI) - 1,710 in 11 matches at 90.00, 1976

3 GC Smith (SA) - 1,656 in 15 matches at 72.00, 2008

4 SR Tendulkar (Ind) - 1,562 in 14 matches at 78.10, 2010

5 RT Ponting (Aus) - 1,544 in 15 matches at 67.13, 2005

31 MJ Clarke (Aus)* - 1,265 in nine matches at 140.55, 2012

* Australia have three Tests remaining in 2012

what is with australian pitches that every bowler is struggling? grt innings btw.

guys after seeing this, people shud be proud of indian bowlers. honestly they did a better job.

SA not looking like a no.1 team.

clarke is leading from the front, and that is what captains shud do. dhoni learn something. atleast score 50 regularly if u can score 100s.

Good day for Aus, hopefully they can keep batting a few more sessions tomorrow, put this game out of sight.

I hope scorecard pressure will be enough to take some SA wickets because the pitch doesn't seem to be doing a whole lot.

scoring almost 500 runs in a day is an achievement. SA have been treated like bangladesh and this tour doesnt look grt for SA. atleast in terms of averages if not results. havent watched the match but is this pitch very flat?

clarke will be tested when he goes to india and england next year.

I saw the entire Clarke's innings. One of the finest I have seen. Pure class. I fear for India. This guy looks unstoppable. There will be a 300 today unless he runs out of partners. He made the pitch look flat. But there is a little bit in it there for the bowlers.

Given that SA can choke any time, I would think Aus will finish the game with ease.

Pitch is flat as seen by todays cricket. SA 200 odd for 2.

Is this what Australia have come to? prepare Flat pitches as they know they can't win?

if australia are really thinking of beating england in england, they need to make better wickets. Seriously other than hussey and clarke their batting will be exposed to bits when they go to england.

so the no.1 tag really isnt gd luck for teams post India. with this rate I think SA will find it hard to draw this match. no chance of them winning after this batting collapse

I just can't believe how ineffective AB de Villiers has become ever since he has taken up the wicket keeping. He is too good batsman to be wasted like this. CSA need to wake up and fine someone else for the job.

One more no show by Ponting. Will this be the end? or will he get one more? Even if he gets one, it will be tough going. If there is any consolation for him, even Tendulkar has been struggling at home. Perhaps we are going to witness two greats retiring at the same time??.

posted on 24/11/12

Tendulkar decline in tests has only just started but Ponting has been in decline for a while now. He may get one more test. While we see 2 oldies a shadow of their best Kallis is still on top of his game and scored a crucial 50 on one leg.

Re; Tendulkar and Ponting's form at present, Ponting has made it quite clear he isn't going anywhere until after the Ashes.
Now whether the selectors have got the courage to give him a push will be the 6-million dollar (pound) question..

Personally I'd like to see them both go out winners but the ashes is no place for sentimental decisions...

Yes it looks like the beers will be flowing in the Aussie shed after this test match.. ....one to go.???
I'm sure Clarke will remind his players of how lucky they were re; the Kallis factor before the final test..

SA struggling with half fit team. Never the less, Australia seized the opportunity and hammering the SA. With Kallis out, Watson in for Perth game, It will be 2-0 for Australia. Unless Steyn unleashes some magic.

With a draw being S.Africa's only chance to gain anything from this test, a couple of things have gone in their favour....Pattinson has been ruled out of attack in day-5, with Lyon at one end most of the day it shouldn't really effect things to much with Clarke & Warner capable of getting in and helping out the quicks for a rest.
Also Kallis will not have to chase runs and stretch his hammy to any great extent but just stay in and eat up time.
Then there is the weather factor.....there is a chance of a couple of showers in Adelaide today....depending on how much rain if any time will be lost will play a big factor re; result.
For what it's worth, I think Siddle & Lyons will finish off the visitors just before tea..??

Finally AB showed up. Fantastic game of cricket going on in Adelaide. Things might change after the new ball.

Who said draws are boring....Well done Sth.Africa, the courage shown in diversity was excellent...

What a fantastic last session of cricket, right down to the wire with some excellent individual performances from both sides.

This result will make good for the WACA where some times winning the toss and batting can be a downfall with a green top usually on show for the first day..
