I like the way you say "only £20m" to spend! Most clubs would give an arm or a leg for that kind of dough!
Junction, I tend to see if a player has the potential or not, I know you might think im being harsh in saying we should sell Siggy but how many times have we had a player who just doesnt look like they will fit in the team but we keep them despite this?
I juts dont think Siggy is the type of player to fit into the Spurs style of play.
AVB apparently spent all his time off between getting the sack from Chelsea and taking over here watching games, Brazil in particular. He knows the Portuguese league inside-out too, and musty have extensive knowledge of the European game for such a meticulous character, someone who was previopusly detailed with compling opposition dossiers
It's not pittance - surely with £20m and such talent he'd be able to pick up some value? Won't he?.....
ok...well....then do you not have to apply the same logic to management....!?
"It's not pittance - surely with £20m and such talent he'd be able to pick up some value? Won't he?"
You would think.
But then it still comes down to whether a player wants to come to dreary England etc.
sandy,
most clubs in all the leagues, other than City or Chelsea would like £20 million to spend to top up their squads in January

Agreed.
I dont know what fans expect sometimes.

No. The Manager is trying to build and manage a team of many players and with players he thinks are right. AVB hasnt had a team of players who he'd like to play, therefore cannot be sacked for Spurs under achieving. AVB is trying to bring the club forward and you cannot compare a man who is trying to bring a group forward with an individual. Sacking AVB would have an impact on us, especially if we are managerless, plus I dont think he has done anything to warrant a dismissal. Selling one player who is far from influential isnt going to impact the team in any way.
There is a massive difference between the 2 scenarios Getting ridding of AVB now would make us no worse than Chelsea and I do not want Spurs to go down their pathetic road.

Regardless of that. Any manager should be able to pick a pretty decent team & tactics to suit, from the crop of players we have. No trouble.
Absolutely Chicken Despite our injury situation, picking the best 11 and dropping players who are not performing is the right thing to do.
yep...as chick says....
shld it really have taken that long to wrk out that with thweplayers he had at his disposal...4-4-2 was best....!?
sorry...but i just dont see how you can say...its ok for the gaffer tobe pap at the start...but not the players....!?

I think deep down AVB knew 4-4-2 was going to be best, but was just too stubborn to admit "his system" would not work.
Its all well & good claiming AVB hasn't got Moutinho or whoever else, but other managers are doing far better than us, with far less at their disposal.
And this is the hard truth of it.
agreed...i don't wanna take this into avb rubbish territory...
but i'm not havin' a 23yr kid getting hammered for not being upto it....but the gaffer has to be allowed to 'find his feet'.....

Junction we're going round in circles ere mate. Age has nothing to do with it, if this was the case then players like Bassong, Bentley, Dos Santos, Darren Bent etc.. should have still been with us. Obviously the gaffer saw it not fit to keep them for whatever reason.
Anyway lets agree to disagree
4thplacebeckons!
How on earth could we have played 4-4-2? We only had Defoe fit and every one is slagging Dempsey left right and centre. I fear Its a damned if you do damned if you don't for AVB
===============
Against Wigan, we were 1-0 down, AVB took off Defoe & put Ade on. as such, we must have had 2 fit strikers for that game/defeat.
But i agree, i dont want this to go into another AVB wirlwind debate, i'm just answering your post.
Junction mate, I'm sure Sigs will turn out to be really good for us, it does take time for new players to adjust and it's not like the team is really settled at the moment so it will be a bit harder for him
