Is it wise to show dislike for 'mercenaries' at the club but seem to be glad that Anelka played for the same club....

This would not be the first example of mercenaries at your club would it????

Liverpool are a bottom of the league team. No need for Chelsea to go down their route of ineptitude and utter failure.

You'd better get practicing "You'll never walk alone" at this rate!

Anelka came to us from a club that had no animosity towards us. After a short period of getting used to being here, and of getting used to being played on the wing or a deeper role, instead of the CF role he had at Bolton, he was genuinely happy to play for us. He accepted that he would no longer be the star of the show, but could be useful as a team player. There's a difference between "moody" and "mercenary."

I´ve been a Chelsea fan for about 16 and a half years if my memory serves me right and I can honestly say that in the light of today´s events I genuinely feel like seriously considering whether I can continue to support this club.

I felt bad when we sacked Mourinho but today is different. It´s much worse and I honestly feel like something inside me has broken a bit.

Maybe I´m overreacting but this is honestly how I feel right now. Just ashamed to call myself a Chelsea fan today.

I als think that the Chelsea board should be ashamed of themselves for thinking that we had any chance of winning anything this season with this current Chelsea squad that is so unbalanced and lacking in options in key areas it´s beyond a joke.

If anything DiMatteo was on the whole over-achieving with this squad and he´s been made a scapegoat for the incompetency of the Chelsea board.

Stop being over dramatic please. The club is bigger than any manager or player. Fans who idolize managers/players and regard them higher than the club itself will always find it hard when these things happen. We will get a good manager and will be fine.

Its a real shame.
It seems like only yesterday that RDM was all smiles, while being paraded in front of the worlds media by Abromivich.

Good to know that I´m not alone in feeling like that mate

It´s a really strange feeling that I can´t exactly describe.

In all my years supporting Chelsea I´ve never felt so emotionally unattached to Chelsea Football Club as I do right now.

To say that I´m ashamed and disgusted doesn´t even begin to cover it.

When did I say he wasn't interested in money? Every player is interested in money, and it's beyond naive to think that they are not. I merely said that he was coming from a place that did not foster animosity towards us, and that he genuinely enjoyed being here, which is not the sign of a mercenary. Torres, in contrast, has always looked like he's merely here because Liverpool forced his hand; he's a guy running down his contract, and collecting a wage, and it shows on the field.

RDM will remain a club legend, and at the very least, we should leave the door open for him to come back in the future in some capacity. It will be interesting to hear RDM's official statement on this, although I suspect he won't say much, as he won't want to jeopardize his compensation. Hopefully, his love for the club isn't diminished too greatly, and he says something encouraging to the fans.

Im not sure you have grapsed what a mercenary is.....

mer·ce·nar·y (mûrs-nr)
adj.
1. Motivated solely by a desire for monetary or material gain.
2. Hired for service in a foreign army.

My point would be that Anelka has moved many times to gain a fee for his agent/brothers and himself and currently he plies his trade wherever he can gain the most money...but you are right he really wanted to play for you...

oh and you do realise the Anelka also played for us at one time dont you??

What Benitez would show is RA has a sort of jealously in him. He is very much a grass is always greener kind of man.

Maybe it's a way of punishing the players for their lackadaisical performances. I can imagine Roman's latest locker room lecture: "you see what you made me do? I warned you I would, but you didn't believe me..." Ironically, Torres would be the only one smiling.

ps, he gets a reported 250k a week at min.... to play ina far flung league that is vconsedered very lowly on the world stage...

I dont know where i got this idea from that he was all about mney...except of course when he played for your team...who he loved dearly...
