The origins of WATP date back to when Celtic used Ford People's as their shirt sponsor.
As a retaliative measure, hoards of Rangers fans adopted the slogan We Are The Peepul!

We are the people dates back to when strikers rallies from the shipyards would be help on the pitch at Ibrox and the chant was sung round the stands to the bosses who all attended games. It was a chant for people power and solidarity with fellow workers.

from the trade unionists on the Clydeside Shipyards where the Rangers support traditionally came from.
Same as the black and red socks were the traditional ship building colours.
Strange we have not seen the socks this season.
