Benitez might not be the most fashionable of mangers
----------------------
What's fashionable ? Not winning trophies ? Because Benitez certaibnly knows how in Spain, England and Italy.
I think timming is essential in this and he got it right.
As surprised as i was , its making sense, we are still in the epl and able to mount a challenge, you wouldnt of said that at the beginning of the week.
Also we do have the world super cup to play for and win!
Fantastic article

Also special mention for this paragraph
"A combination of RDM rightly being a club legend, his dignity and honesty when he speakers, the CL success and Roman’s track record of impatience have made this sacking look more ruthless than is it."
RDM was the right man at the time, basically anyone but AVB and a man the players good rally round for at a time when they finally won the CL
------------
I think your doing RDM a disservice, I think he was instrumental in our CL win.
Good article. Echoes my thoughts.
Yes he was with the squad he inherited, but this season he was out of his depth.
I dont think Rafa is a bad manager just stayed a bit to long at liverpool and got the maximum possible out of that set off players.
He is the number one culprit for the state Torres is currently in tho. He brought him back from injury too quickly in order to get the maximum out of his players.
Maybe RA has brought him in to fix his errors with torres?
Damn...... i thought my article last night was gunna be the best at least till the weekend
Can't say i agreed with everything in it, particuplarly yr estimation of the job RDM did and yr slightly degrading undertone towards the callibre of manager Benitez is, think you've done them both a slight disservice, but it was fantasticly written and brought some new insights into the general debate. I agree with your opening line. Right decision, wrong time

Has he been degrading towards Benitez? I dont see it.
can we just move ahead, and hope for a resounding victory against City
but things haven’t been quite right either, the team doesn’t have balance
------------------------------------------------------------
Was that DiMatteo´s fault though ?
Is our squad really good enough to be challening for the title and CL ?
I don´t think it is.
Ok we have a good first 11 (with the exception of Torres) but our squad is paper thin and lacking in options.
Also the options we have on the bench are mainly young and inexperienced.
Also if you look at our bench we don´t have any real game-changers to call upon if we need a goal.
He spoke of him as if he's a stop gap manager whose overly tactical by nature, least how i read it. Maybe it was the 'fashionable' line which had me reading the last paragraph abit biasedly.
We need to spend money in the transfer market for once. Sick of just scraping by.
He's a good tactician. Will shore up our defence and will change the way we attack. I cant see him failing with this team and his attention to detail

i hope this comment is a joke!
^ yeah, 80mil this summer. More like 150mil before we have a huge of challenging for titles
Right decision , right time , it was always going to be controversial , there was never going to pat on the back for Roman over this !

We were better than United.
I have no doubt that RDM would have eventually figured out the proper balance for the team.
