Isco is great isn't he? So is Benat.

I remember watching valencia away at real madrid and they really shouldd have scored 6 or 7 that game valencia. I dunno if it was last season or start of this though. Problem is la liga don't have teams with good defences.

Did it finish 0-0 hafi? I think it did. Remember watching thinking this is the best 0-0 I've seen

5 stars. Great article. Isco is class.

Real Madrid and Barca being so much better gives the impression everyone else isn't that good. Which is a disservice to the other quality sides.

Hafi, neither does the prem.

Even the top teams have some comedy defences.

PL is more intense that's why people like it. But liga is more skilful.

Fletcher ,

You are spot on. Malaga are looking really good and Atletico Madrid have been excellent this season.
Barca and Real are just too good though and that's why it always looks like the others aren't.

would love atleti to finish above real

Their are technically superior, undoubtably. Put them in a battle and they are done though.

I think the PL and LA Liga are fairly similar in overall effectiveness.

Like Fergie said, would Ronaldo or Messi score 50 goals in a PL season? I doubt it

i only say la liga teams have rubbish defence. Look at barca dominate most of the play but concede goals for fun most of the time from anyone gets the arrogance to get past the half way line.

Yes I think that was the one 0-0 draw real madrid valencia.

49 shots in that game.

Ronaldo and Messi score than many goals because Barca and Madrid are so good.

Hafi, so because Barca concede goals all teams all teams can't defend? Rubbish.

When teams play quality attacking football you're going to concede.

its a different style of football, because PL teams are quite poor at keeping the ball they need to be more resolute when they are without the ball. Thus why defending is better over here than there.

crazy game this was. I think the only time I seen a 0-0 was when arsenal played some team in champions league and battered them and it finished 0-0 and when man utd battered arsenal in the fa cup final 2005 0-0 it finished.

darren, even pep said it, his teams are not good at defending. I think barca concede most of the shots on target they have against them.

Look at arsenal and chelsea scoring goals with lethal efficiency. Arsenal had like 3 shots on target at the emirates and scored 2 goals against barca and had 0 shots at the nou camp and were close to making it 3-2 if bendtner shot, after the og they scored from. Heck van persie got sent off for shooting.

Much based on mentality, in La Liga its all about attacking and playing nice football, in England its about winning

De Gea 82 on Fifa in La Liga, De Gea 78 in skill in Premier League one year after, explain that for level difference. PL is way higher

posted on 24/11/12

Teams in Spain are attack minded. In PL it's more defensive at times. But if I had to choose watching their relegation teams play each other or PL ones, I'd choose liga.

posted on 24/11/12

Barca's defence is a weak link in their side but it's also pretty good. Not poor. And that doesn't mean the rest of the sides are.

Premier league defending is overrated. Some of it is comical. Especially the last two seasons.

Being clinical is in the mind. You're not likely to see a teams take their chances in games where they creat less than in games where they create more.

Italy is defensively the best league. The point being that attack is often more effective than defence and the skill in La Liga does on occasion shine through.

I remember seeing that the teams outside the top two in La Liga were concede less than the teams outside the top two in England. Pretty good when you're playing sides with great attacks and supposedly cràp defences.

Betis are giving Real Madrid so much trouble tonight ...

This is the same side that got smashed by Sevilla in the derby last week?

Looking forward to the second half

Southampton, Villa and QPR have us good games, Gala gave us a game and beat us, as did Spurs.

Teams tend to up their game vs the better sides
