Hernandez

I think he should get more game time than he does, which in fair he seems to starting to get now.
Excellent finisher of the ball, Rooney seems quite happy to be provider for now.

Hernandez should get 25 this season he's got 9 already shame it's not 10 with the goal given as OG vs villa.

Does anyone think we play better with Rooney on the left? He is obviously far more productive than Young and he seems to have better angles to make his passes.

RvP will get more...possibly next will be Chicarito...and Wayne will do his job and get a few too, whilst helping the other two get more fame & glory! It`s a team game you must never forget! Rooney is still the heart of the team, i.e. that what makes it go..... and go and GO!

The problem with Wayne on the left is that hes not the quickest or the most skillful and it feels like his actual abilities are being wasted, i prefer to see him in the centre.

rooney is probably a better option on the left than Young and probably welbeck but is he better there than in the centre - probably not

He could make that position his own if he played there more often but to be honest i would prefer (especially in europe) seeing him and Kagawa interchanging from behind RVP and that left hand side we would be more narrow but teams are less likely to park the bus the way Norwich and QPR have done recently.

One of his passes to RvP against QPR that he played from just outside the box was Zidanesque. I feel we would miss that if he was constantly on the left.

I know Rooney is probably better in the middle but as a team we have looked more threatening with him on the left. It is probably because it is a more attack-minded set-up and because we have only played it when we are chasing a game. It also means that we have three strikers in the box for our right winger to cross to, which seems to be necessary at the moment given Valencia's poor form.

Chicarito.

Rooney - amongst other things - is the victim of his versatility.

When I say on the left, he isn't really on the left - that's just his starting position. He drifts in a lot and gets the ball in central positions.

The problem with us in recent games has been that nobody has occupied the space between the attack and the midfield, which is basically what Rooney normally does. However, he hasn't and we have lacked creativity because of it. When he has played on the left he has got into that space more often.

Regardless, he needs to play deeper than he did for the first hour against QPR.

Simply the heartbeat of thew team. He has to play and preferably central. Has vision other players just don't have in the squad, Scholes & RVP the obvious exceptions. I hea rpeople say that he has not fulfilled his potential that he showed 8 years ago (Euros 2004). Well his game has changed and he is consistently good, season after season. Sure he does not have that explosiveness to burst past people now but everything else is there and he now stays out of trouble too. Give him the captaincy I say.

we are far too slow to get the ball up to him - it must be incredbly hard to work and find space when we f@nny about with it at the back - its ok for midfielders to come and get the ball off the defenders but pointless when the opposition only have one up front - yes the midfield should try and drag players out of position but it was clear QPR would only apply pressure when we got the ball in their half

Versitality is right...doesn't matter where he is supposed to start,....you might find him clearing the ball from his own goal line or at the opposite end scoring with any weapon he has...at any moment he might go right or left or center...but he keeps agoing..not always perfect but certainly versatile.

Somebody needs to link the midfield and attack, especially when the wingers aren't performing well.

Anderson in midfield would solve the problem as he carried the ball forward from midfield.

However, Scholes and Carrick can't do this effectively, so when they are in the team, either Rooney has to drop back or our wingers need to move into narrower positions.

Given how one-dimension our preferred wingers are, it has to be Rooney. He has stayed very far forward in the last few games and it is frustrating. Needs to get more involved.

I think he will be at his creative best when Kagawa comes back providing Kags is on the left and Rooney behind RvP, since our midfield is rather static without Anderson Kagawas movement combined with Wayne might add an extra creative spark to the team

I'm just pray that we get a chance to see a front four of Kagawa, Nani, Van Persie and Rooney. If Nani can sort out his contract and put some form together that team could be formidable.

Yep that line up hasn't really happened yet.

Pretty sure that was when he was playing on the left though? He will naturally come into the center.

I don't think it's the worst system.... Rooney can play wide at times and come inside at times... With, maybe, Ando or Carrick just keeping an eye on the left side to make sure we don't get caught out.

"Chichariniho" and "Chicarito", are they related to Chicharito?

Nani will be sold (unfortunately!)... but I too would love to see those four tearing teams apart with Ando and Carrick behind.

posted on 26/11/12

At least if we sell Nani, Sir Alex will look to bring in a top quality replacement (hence Lucas, Hazard). No clues as to who that will be but hope he doesn't 'settle' for an Ashley Young type player.

Without Rooney in our team, we look incredibly mediocre imo.

posted on 26/11/12

Of course toplad, he is our best player and plays in the most important position in the pitch in our system. I hope we start learning how to play other formations as well because we aren't very adaptable at all.

We've tried it with the diamond but funnily enough that is even more dependant on Rooney.

I would go as far as saying that i would have a 37-year old Beckham over Young on current form and maybe even Valencia.
