Is Cleverley good enough?

Considering how his development has been so hampered by impact injuries, I think he's coming along just fine.

Already played in 3 different positions for England too

With a full fit season behind him, I'm expecting good things from Clevs from next season (If in fact he does stay fit this season)

as he doesnt seem to play that often we cant really judge him can we.

i think he's good enough to be a squad player, whether he's good enough to take a big game by the scruff of the neck consistently i dont think so, but he can certainly have a great career at utd

Yeah, he looked very good against Arsenal this season. Was a bit poor against Chelsea but as he's young and learning he'll put that down to experience.

Should start vs City and could well be one of our key players.

I haven't seen Clev replicate the great promise he showed us in the second half against City in the CS, since then.

A lot of it may be down to lack of a consistnt run in the team, though.

Not sure why he hasn't played much of late. He has to be a better option than the old guys.

He'll never be a world beater, but he's got the potential to be a good player for us. Dont mind having him in the team at all.

I think the fact that Cleverley hasn't ever had a reputation as a wonderkid and the unglamorous clubs he's played for on loan have made people think less of him as a player. He always impresses me every time he plays, and seems to have a real pride in wearing the United shirt which is always great to see. Okay, he'll never set the world alight but I do think he can be an excellent player for United and England for many years.

Yes, if you watch him closely when he plays, there's no doubt

Not sure. He doesn't really have a defined role. He's movement and one touch passing at times is out of this world. I think he suits the 'tiki taka' way of playing football!

There are certain people amongst our fanbase who believe that if a player isnt "world class" or dosent show "world class potential" then he shouldnt be at the club. These tend to be the people who are the most critical of Cleverley. But as I said, he'll be a good player for the club.

His passing is neat, tidy and crisp......but hardly ever do they open up a defence.

Decent player and will only get better if he stays fit and is given a chance. He'll never be a world class midfielder though.

Good enough for what ? Of course he is good enough. Good enough to help United win the PL.
The CL who knows... much luck needed too.
I like his desire and his passing, more suited to a team that love their 5 metre passes. Think he will improve too. Actually thought Rooney should have come off before TC against West Ham last week. Once Kagawa is back I look forward to TC, Kags, Roo and RVP playing sharp, incisive passes to each other. His goalscoring will improve with time and experience.

He'll never do anything special or spectacular but he can be a very clever, tidy footballer that plays a simple but important role in keeping the play ticking over at fast tempo's.

I agree with bloodred and I don't see why every player in our squad has to be 'world class' or anything. He'll never let you down and is a solid player to have in the squad that is only going to improve. In a 3 man midfield I think he would be excellent.

I'm a big fan of Cleverley. With Anderson injured he should be playing every week.

He is Totes McGoats gonna start against City.

He is due a start and with Anderson out and Fletcher done in then I can't see why he wouldn't. Oh, wait...

This is my bold prediction for Sunday. I was right with the Reading prediction so here goes...

De Gea
Smalling Evans Rio Evra
Fletcher Carrick Cleverley
Rooney RVP Young

That could well be the team IMO.

Of course Cleverley is good enough for United. He may not be 'world class' (whatever that means) but that does not mean he cannot be an important player for the club.

I would be happy with that team except with Nani in Young's place.

Maybe Nani will have a miraculous recovery?

Or Young will continue his good form from the Reading game. When he cuts on to his right he can put a very dangerous cross in.

He is a good all round player. He is decent with the ball at his feet, not weak or slow.

He isn't exactly Iniesta but he is a solid player and if he can stay fit has a goof future at the club.

De Gea
Rafael Rio Evans Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Valencia Rooney Young
Van Persie

I'm 90% sure that'll be the team. We played it against Chelsea and Arsenal and with the likes of Anderson, Kagawa and Nani out I can't see anything else as I think he'll go with width, with width Rooney dropping back into midfield.

Rafael is our first choice right back and one of our best players at the moment. A sensible tactical substitution at the weekend doesn't change this. He'll start.
