Which teams do football writers support?

Gabrielle Marcotti and James Lawton are probably my favourite of the bunch.

I like Martin Samuel - or used to - but lately his quality of articles have been shoddy. This coincided with his transfer from a broadsheet (he was excellent at the Times) to the tabloids (he was mediocre at the now defunct News of the world and he is increasingly terrible at the dailymail).

I like Alan Green. Dont get the hate towards him at all.

Apparently Alan Green supports Liverpool. I don't believe that for a second.

To be fair, that being Liverpool show was cringeworthy at best. Clearly an idea brought forward by the American influence.

Thanks Mr C Holt is a Stockport County fan, so maybe he does have a bit of City DNA in him

That article is quite amusing Mr C, but in fairness to Rio I can see why it might make him angry.

So Spurs fans compiled this list and the conclusion is the majority of journalists are Arsenal fans.

For some strange reason I am doubting the reliability of this report.

I didn't watch it on the grounds that I feared it would be cringeworthy, and comments since have proven me correct on that score.

However, as I remember it Liew said that a print of Brendan in his own home proved that he was vain, when actually it was a gift given to him by a Swansea-based charity. I also felt that the article was somewhat disrespectful towards Brendan's family.

The programme was poor, but the article was diabolical.

It was made by Spurs fans on an only Spurs fan forum

So dont you dare go questioning the credibility of the list.

You get what you pay for with newspapers.

I enjoy reading actual quotes, and editorials/opinions.

What I try to ignore is the ridiculous sensationalism within articles and their headlines.

I bought the Sun on Saturday as I wanted their betting page. Had a quick flick through the sports section - there wasn't a single article in the back four pages where the headline hadn't been taken out of context from the quotes themselves.

Shameful journalism, but this type of issue seems to have been forgotten about in the Leveson enquiry, with attention on the law breaking aspect of the media.

Surely misquoting or misrepresenting IS against the law? It sounds like libel to me.

I agree i read either quotes or opinions of the writer..other than that I couldnt care less for the media surrounding football...

To be fair, anybody with a huge portrait of themselves in their living room must have shades of vanity, but I've not read the article so really couldn't comment.

Like Winston, I try to avoid the garbage press write and stick to quotes, I've experienced first hand how the gutter press can put a spin on things.

It's not misquoting.

You could argue misrepresentation, but these reports are trivial and never likely to invoke legal action.

Here's a classic example someone told me about:

2002 world cup... Ferguson is asked at a press conference to predict the semi finalists. He obliged, but England weren't in the four.

The headline?

"Ferguson: England have no chance"
