Where is the money going?
---------------
The boards back pocket and Wengers 7 million a year contract
4. The club has a billionaire owner
-----------------
No we don't.
Not sure about a full 100m but a £15 mil defender and get rid of SS and Djourou, a £25m Winger i.e. Munian or Gaitan, and a £15-£20 mil holding midfielder.
I know figures don't work like this in the real world, but roughly this is what we need.
Ok, a billionaire major shareholder.
Whatever way you want to put it.
Whats better that 1 billionaire owner?
What utter nonsense……
West Ham, Stoke, Swansea, Everton, West Brom…..all ahead of you in the league, all have very little money. Its got nothing to do with money, it’s the quality of players Arsenal have brought in over the years.
Chamakh or Michu
Giroud or Long
Gervinho or Fellaini
etc………
Rover;
Is your argument that big money doesn't have to be invested to compete for the title?
Ok, a billionaire major shareholder.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly, he doesnt need to use his own money as he is just a shareholder. He has say on how the profits are spent, but there is no obligation on him putting extra money in, as he already has the shares.

What Nonsence lets see at the end of the season where we finish before spouting rubbish.
Michu, Long & Fellaini play 1 measly game per week most of the time lets see how they do when they have to place twice a week.
Only have to look at Newcastle to see the effects of playing twice a week.
Problem at Arsenal is there is no dept to the squad and the same 11 are needed all the time as Wenger doesnt trust the backup.

The OP said 'compete for trophies'.
All of these teams have a chance to win a cup or qualify for Europe
True WR.
How much have they spent on the new Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira whilst paying wages for Bendtner and Djorou?
DaveLFC;
It's the fact that he claims to be passionate about Arsenal etc etc, and that he's competitive, yet when it comes to putting his money where his mouth is he comes up short.
Just read that back, What i mean is that if he is making a profit why should he invest more money?
Im sure the shareholders would have no problem investing 100M once if it would guarantee maximum profits from the EPL and CL for the next 3-5yrs, but realistically it wont.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Of course he says that to keep teh public off his back. Its all about perception. But the reality is that these people are only interested in the bottom line. If they can consistantly make 10M without a trophy or 5M with a trophy they will take the 10M everytime.
Bk to the Article i too reckon about 100Million would be about right to get us where we want to be + a few player sales.
Cavani £30Million
Jovetic - £25Million
Wanyama/M'Vila - £15Million
Gotze - £30Million
Team would be from MF Upwards:
-----------------M'Vila---------------
-------Wilshire----Gotze-----------
-Santi-------------------Jovetic----
--------------Cavani------------------
Dave;
So you'd go with the majority and agree that the money disappearing into the black hole that is Stan's back pocket?
I'd we tempted to sign both Wanyama & M'Vila to give us more beef in the middle.

Well to put in basically, yes. I dont agree with it.
I understand investors making a profit on their investment and I am all for that. But the amount of profit that Arsenal make compared to other clubs is ridiculously good, just seems that the dividends may be a bit too high.
As long as Arsenal continue to qualify for Champions League, the board will never invest heavily and why should they? People forget, they’re INVESTORS. They’re not fans. It’s not about winning trophies. It’s about making money on their investment.
Remains to be seen what will happen if Arsenal fail to qualify
Rover;
Abramovich is an owner. The Sheikhs are owners. Still invest heavily don't they?
They're exceptions. Those people are multi billionaires who want a play thing, a hobby, a toy......
Arsenal don't have that. Arsenal have businessmen
Surely it's in the interest of the club to be more successful, thus boosting commerical revenue?
Arsenal don't have that. Arsenal have businessmen
------------------
Both Arsenal owners are multi-billionaires. The Shekhs didn't invest in Man City as a plaything.
Thats not how investing works and shows little understanding of business models.
How can any business be worth £750m whilst only producing a profit of around £30m? Thats more laughable than the dot coms that went belly up in 2001.
Surely it's in the interest of the club to be more successful, thus boosting commerical revenue?
----
Not in the eyes of the board. We've done feck all in the last 7 years and still got a £150m deal, we've got another mammoth one in the pipeline too. This deal proves there's no incentive to invest that money in the team so long as we can just achieve 4th every season we'll get another huge deal in a few years time. Its Perfect
