Ashley Young

All players go through periods of bad form and Young is no exception. He may not be 'world class' or have an exotic name but he definitely has a role to play in the United squad.

Whether he's 'United quality' or not shouldn't be decided after one injury plagued first season.

I'm keeping an open mind. When he is on form he's pretty tasty and some of the crosses he puts in are undefendable to he deserves time

Definitely capable of playing for us imo, just seems to have lacked sharpeness and confidence since his injuries. Unsurprisingly

Young is the epitome of mediocrity. I think he gets a raw deal here but that doesn't detract from the fact that he is of limite ability.

It is not a diss, it is just a statement of fact.

the thing i hold most against him is that he's an enormous cheat, the worst in the league

At least we don't have Downing

always rated him, watched his career from an early age. great crosser, good finisher and has plenty of running in him

just needs to do the "simple" things, get down the line & put some good crosses in.

He needed to deliver a performance after his shocker against west ham and he did. He needs to do it again this weekend....

Young overcomplicates things for me. He should be more direct. I like the fact that he wants to try something different and like play inside, however, he simply does not have the ability to play in that way. He needs to play to his strengths.

If he did this more often we'd get better perfomances, perhaps, and he'd be a decent squad player. We need a top class left winger in the summer, for sure.

If he can get his form back from the beginning of last season, and keep it at that level, then he will make it here.

He has the ability. He just needs consistancy.

He isn't on Nani's level when both are at their best but he isn't too shoddy either. He was marvelous v West Brom last season as an example

I'll judge him after a run of games staying fit

I agree with that point, I really hope SAF makes it clear that the club and fans don't like this.

Although i thought he drew unfair criticism against the QPR thugs.... He was bundled over.... Wasn't a penalty, but wasn't a dive.... Yet the QPR lot got away with giving him a right load of grief.

A good squad player and should be used in the capital one cup and fa cup, and any games where we require a defensive winger. Other than that it pains me to see him in the team.

Dont forget for a few million more we would have got Mata!

There is just no point thinking like this..... How do you know he wanted to come to Manchester? How do you know what wages he's on?

Chelsea throw cahs at anything, occasionally, they will get a good player.. but for every Mata, there is a Paulo Ferriera.

Young appears to be a player who's head drops when things aren't going well.

He is a useful player to have though and can do something special when required

You see my point, £18 million was way too much money for an average player like Young, also considering he was in the last year of his contract.

Another mistake which we should accept. Berbatov was another.

The kind of money we spend is astonishing sometimes!

comment by UnitedRedMacca- Even the TERMS Clevshinson or Cleverson sound better than Scholrick and don't get me started on Carrickholes (U2024)

I know but we seem to get too many Dioufs, Youngs, Bebe's, Macheda's, Berbatov's, Kuscaskcs these days. Its really annoying.

Macheda joined as a trainee at 16 ffs. Hardly similar

Still crap. I know the manager gets some gems but the crap outweighs the good.

I just wish he would sign a promising young midfielder or someone who can spark some excitement in the team.

Diouf - decent player, doing well in Germany, signed for roughly 5m. Never given a chance here

Bebe - signed for 4.5m, looks decent in the reserves and has a better goal to game ration for us than Torres has for Chelsea

Macheda - signed for next to nothing.

Berbatov - instrumental in our 19th league title win when Rooney was on sabbatical. Highest goal scorer, treated like garbage by the manager and has since gone

Kusczak - again, signed for less than 5m and had a few decent performances

You cannot have a squad filled with world class players in every position. It just wouldn't work, you need guys like the people above to do a job as and when required

diouf - hardly a big signing, got a bit back
Youngs - on his day is a decent squad player to have
Bebe's - strange one granted
Macheda's - came through the youth system
Berbatov's, - his goals were a big contribution in winning the league
PIG - decent back up, were are seeing the problem in having two decent keepers who think they should be playing. - pig was a decent backup to edwin.

cant see your problem here to be honest ninja.

The hilarity of Torres never ceases.

I dont world class just some ability!

Too many workhorses and not enough technical ability or guile or make something happen.

Those players you named must have cost over £70 million in wages and transfer fee's yet they will always be remembered as flops. It upsets me to see money wasted that way when we know we cant spend like City Chelsea etc.
