i think its going to be a case of getting a genuine striker in for a reasonable fee. i.e ba, gomis or bony. Then signing a quality wide man who offers a goal threat i.e sturridge, wallcott or mertens. Carroll, downing and cole could be used as bargaining tools.

If we get Sturridge, Ba and Walcott in January I will change my username to FSG rule
Why do we have so many fans who don't think before they post these leaked transfers and don't realise that this is harmful to the club getting the best deal possible? It's the same with that twitter idiot and I wish Chang had beaten the s hite out of him.
*---------------
Chang was a pillock, I'm glad we are shot of him. It was Chang himself who gave Duncan Jenkins publicity.
Not a big fan of Sturridge to be honest, far too greedy for my liking. If he wants 80k a week (reportedly) then he can f uck off!
It all sounds fairly believable.
Certainly more likely than some silly Falcao or Cavani rumour.
Don't really believe that we are trying to sign all three of them though, the Carroll/Ba bit sounds a bit far fetched to me.
I can believe the Sturridge and Walcott bits though.
We certainly couldn't afford all 3 of them.
Ba and Walcott would be good signings, but Sturridge isn't worth close to £12m IMO.
If we paid 11-12m for Borini then Chelsea will no doubt want the same if not more for an England player.
"We certainly couldn't afford all 3 of them."
If the rumours are true(ish)
Ba is a swap
Sturridge is a paltry 12 mil
Walcott can go for very little because his contract is basically up. 10? 12?
22-24 mil is affordable.
Trouble is, you can guarentee the game after we sign Ba, his reputed gammy knee will go POP!
we might even have a striker on the bench soon
I would not look at Walcott or Sturridge if i was BR, both are poor. Although it's not easy we have to be looking at better players.
You are poor Scouseking 5.
I actually rate Sturridge but he needs to improve his attitude.
Carroll, downing and cole could be used as bargaining tools.

Were you being serious with this comment, or was it sarcasm.
I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt.
100,000 per week for Walcott? I hope that isn't true.
He'd improve our squad no doubt, but if we're not swimming in cash then that - plus a transfer fee - is an awful lot of money to tie up in someone who still hasn't proved he can be consistent and still divides opinion amongst his current fans.
We're still trying to undo the damage that was done the last time we chucked loads of money at English players (even if Walcott is a cut above Downing and Carroll).
If Walcott wants such silly money then maybe this is where the scouting team earn their corn and find a cheaper alternative.
Walcott has 10 goals and 7 assists in 17 games this season. That makes him about the most productive player in the country this season.
That is worth 100k a week, because that is the going rate.
He is still only 23 and the next 4 years will be the best of his career.
Even if we manage to find a cheaper alternative, if they are good as Walcott they will soon want 100k a week.
I'm still suspicious of whether he's going to improve/sustain that form.
He's young, but he's still been in the PL for some time without convincing for the most part. Don't forget that Downing went from 7 goals and 7 assists to 0 for us. (Again, I'm aware that Walcott's better than Downing, I'm just saying that it can go pear shaped).
I've no doubt that he has the potential to do well, but I don't really look at him and say "Yeah, he's definitely going to be scintilating, pay him 100k per week". I mean, that's what we pay Suarez as far as I know.
I'd pay it
I think he's worth the money / risk
