Our squad is strong enough to cope this season I'd say.

you can try to put a positive spin on it but irrespective, it's highly embarassing to finish bottom of the group without winning a match after the money spent .

I always put the PL above the CL. I think that the league is a fairer reflection of being the best. We have seen numerous times over the years that teams can win the CL without being the best in the competition. That doesn't happen in the league.

Going out of the Europa last night was a plus for City I'd say. Playing Thursday then Sunday would have been a problem for you, but now you have a lot fewer games to worry about.

SAF will just take each game as it comes I believe. I think that he will give both competitions equal priority and hope to take one of them. We have a better chance of winning the PL than the CL, but there is no way that SAF will play a weakened team when a bit European night comes around against a Barca, Juve or Real.

.......................

A Chelsea fan using the word embarrassing (spelt incorrectly btw) about a club other than his own shambolic outfit. Oh the irony

Whether it is embarrassing or not, it does give City a better chance in the league I'd say. That isn't spin.

It might effect the moral of the squad being embarrassed in Europe and that might drag into their league campaign.

Likewise United could go on a good cup run and defeat top teams developing a feel good factor around the club.

You can put spins on either scenario, the reality is nobody knows if it is a positive or not. But being the first ever English club to go out of the competition without a single win is pretty embarrassing.

I think we have enough to challenge for the PL and the CL.

The only thing that will let us down is SAF team selections.

to be honest i partly agree with that, 3 draws and 3 defeats is pretty poor.

having said that i think a lot of credit needs to go to Dortmund who have looked the most impressive team in the CL this season, and look as if they could go all the way.

madrid are madrid and really were always going to qualify.

your record has been poor, but to be honest getting out of the group was never going to be easy, and if im honest, no other english team would have got out of that group either.

Certainly on the form we have all showed so far this season.

I doubt we will stay in it for too long anyway and we can still concentrate on the league till Feb really. I doubt Sir Alex will play a particularly strong side v West ha, in the cup

If United can beat you at your place on Sunday, the moral at City could drop in my opinion

This Derby is massive for me

Regrding City's CL campagn, it's been pretty poor tbh. I would have expected City to at least go for the EL. It gives dames to players who need them for starters and in Next season's CL, City will likely be no higher than pot 3 again, and we know what that means.

Aside from us, do you have any other tough fixtures in December?

Probably true that

exactly statman.

while city should have beaten ajax at least at home, madrid and dortmund have both been very good in this seasons group stage and they deserve a lot of credit for that.

as poor as city have been, both these teams have looked as impressively good.

Personally I would prefer to win the title back, I think Ferguson will see it the same way as well. He has stated in the past that the domestic title should always be the priority. As far as the squad goes, I think it is strong enough for both but we need some of the others to start chipping in with goals as well as Van Persie.

I think the problem City have is not doing well in Europa when you have had the opportunity has hindered you slightly, it would have improved your co-efficient for next season (or possibly the season after that!). Mancini had the title on his mind I think and I would say that last night probably wasn't the best 11 with getting into Europa in mind. Next season you will be in the same pot 3 (or 4?) and potentially you could draw a similar group again.

I always say if rather win the Pl, hit if we had to KO Madrid and Barca to win the CL, I think I'd prefer that, for the same if Fergies mental health as much as anything.

the Pl of course...anything else is just a bonus.

RB&W, what IF this were to be Fergies last season? We all know what he wants tk win before he retires.

I wouldn't mind missing out on the PL for the CL this season, aslong as Chelsea win the league. Not City.

Then again, Rafa winning the league?

We can do both!!

Beating City to the PL is above all else for me

Think about what was more painful last year. Going out of the CL or Agueroooooooooooooooooooooooo?

No contest for me

posted on 5/12/12

PL should of course be the first priority. Yes City will have an advantage based on playing less games however it is also difficult to keep the squad happy and match-fit if you are not playing many games. Plus, by the time CL starts again we would be done with about two-thirds of league games. It might give SAF extra incentive to utilize this period to establish a decent lead in the league and play his strongest side in each of the games until February. Last year going out for CL and Europa didn't really help us as we had players out of form who didn't get much game time.

The other big problem for City is going to be the loss of revenue. They are already carrying a massive loss from last year and with this year as well, it will be difficult for them to meet the FFP conditions. It will come down to how strictly Platini decides to implement it and based on that it may have a massive impact in terms of January and summer signings etc.

I don't think it'll mean big advantage to City in PL as I don't think we will go far in CL anyway.

Perhaps a couple more games, it won't give City this big advantage that some think.

I would still take the PL...

Fergies legend will be that he knocked Lpool of their perch. Which he did in winning 12 PLtitles. One more would be perfect

He would have to win 2 or more CL to get these same in respect in European competition... which would take him another 10 years maybe.

Anyway its not about fergie is about United. You win your league first and then see what happens in the cups.

Of course, I'm not saying Pl should play second fiddle, to win the CL you need luck on your side at some point, which isn't the case over 38 games.

I still think it would be nice to see us win the CL again under Fergie, especially if it involves beating Barca and Madrid.

The goosebumps of ' and Solskjaer has won it', outweighs the pain of ' Agueroooo'.

So lets just win the treble eh?
