Based JUST on that? God no.
Would have to be a mix. Macca summed it up on the article below. Standing excludes certain fans (children, old people) and they need to be allowed to join in in such a huge part of our culture.
Provide seating for those who want and need it, and well policed standing areas for those who want and *deserve* it. Anyone causes trouble in standing areas should be banned from them, too easy for something to go wrong very quickly.

no but if their other policies were swaying you and this was the decider.
Oh and no, I wouldn't base my vote on a minor decision like that.
Park yes but as i said you will have certain areas it works in Germany you even see them with a beer
Old Trafford is in desperate need of some sort of standing area to improve the atmosphere because it's absolutely terrible.
It's a lot safer to stand in specifically designed standing areas than it is in seated areas anyway.
Germany have shown that it can be done and to a high standard of safety also.
I'm definitely for it.
Buddha - Exactly, it can work. But it still needs to be policed. Think comparing a fledging project to reinstate standing areas to the German league is a little unfair. They've had the standing sections for years and it's become a part of their footballing culture, so allowances can be made, because the stewards know it's less likely to go wrong.
The German standard should be what we aim for, where fans are allowed to enjoy themselves fully. But to begin with, it must start off small and with restriction until we know we can do it properly
The Red
But this lot we call Labour/Conservatives/lLibs are a waste of s[ace need a new fresh approach and kick them out.
Yes I would, football has lost so much of its atmosphere since seating ruined it (its warmer too)
Look at Germany as a great example, their 'safe standing' are of the stadium are great.
Why shouldn't I, you, or anybody else have the choice whether of not they stand up?
TRS, do you know what happened to making the away section of OT the 'singing section'? There were plans in place.
Just stick the away fans in the corner of the north stand, works for Barca.
like a shot, standing up with all your mates/family having a laugh/cheering (booing if your a blue) & singing.
If you want to sit down fair enough but lets have a choice eh.

The last I heard is that the police I think weren't entirely satisfied with safety requirements so it was put on hold this season but there are still discussions going on and we could hear something soon about it.
definitely be up for a mix provided safety came first
It's only a singing area, or it is that they are worried it will attract the drunken thugs?
It was more to do with the away fans up in the 3rd Tier of the United Road stand.
They worried that if say for example there was 3000 City fans up there and they started doing the Poznan, that the stand might start to move or flex and that's why it was put on hold.
I personally think they need to keep the away fans near ground level because the away fans can help contribute to a good atmosphere and the banter between the two sets of fans is always good to have.

Very good points. I did wonder why they don't just turn one of our corners into a singing area.
The South East corner is the best place to have a singing section because of the proximity to the roof so the sound coming from that area is a lot better.
I seem to remember when we played Celtic in the 2006/07 Champions League group stage at Old Trafford, their fans were in the South Stand I think near the Stretford End.
Does anyone else remember that? Not sure if they had the South East corner or Tier 2 of the Scoreboard End as well though.
Old Trafford full of silly old silent soldiers
True atmosphere...whenya swayed everyone swayed everyone oohed and aahed together even waiting outside you could feel it.
IN Germany for CL games they fans must be all seated and they are considering making stadium all seater, for example at Dortmund but lots of opposition from their ultras especially to this naturally. Also trying to ban flares inside grounds and I think it was Monchengladbach where their protests backfired as the stand caught fire from a loose flare !!
Buddha, if there was 2 parties, with the same portfolio except one was offering standing and the other wasn't then I would definitely vote for the standing. I support a blue Square South team and most of our ground is standing only. That's where the fun is.
If it was safe then yes, a sensitive subject for sure but there is a generation of younger fans that have missed something that was proper mental an amazing.
I miss the old kippax of the eighties.
True loz - but that was then and we were young and mental and the idea of danger never occurred to us.
Yeah, you don't see the danger till its too late.
old on a minute "danger"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My dad/grandad like thousands of others would pack themselves into OT every other Sat, just like I did in the 70s & 80s.
More danger riding a bike to work.
