Unfortunately I think this is one of those issues where you get a minority who are passionate about it but the majority are just apathetic about it. I admit that I wouldnt want to move from my seat in the Kilner Bank that I have had pretty much since the stadium opened. The only option that works for away fans is the FM stand and dont get why that isnt possible. It would free up the south stand for home fans and would reduce the noise generated by the away fans.
I also think moving the family stand into the Kilner Bank or Riverside Lower is workable and could replace the family stand with a safe standing area to appease those who want it.
I'm glad I am not responsible for calculating which of the stands provides the least risk for away fans....(if it ever happens).
I wonder though if all the 'noisy lot' left the Kilner, why anyone would want to stay there...
The FM Stand would be the easiest option as I can't see any problem moving the kids from the precipitous upper tier...although it would be funny if they said it was too steep for away fans
Wakey is correct in that at one game we went in what was then our usual seats,,, We didnt know we could have gone in the south stand that day,, And i thought when it was advertised in advance a couple of thousand did actually go behind the goal,, I recall the 2 all Orient game seemed to tempt quite a few,, But we knew we could go in there nigh on a full week before,,,,,, As someone else has already said,, The club see it as too much hassle add into the mix RobinSSon having the final say,, An ex copper jobsworth who is not a football fan,,, Employing lots of sstewards who are not football fans,, Most of em dont even come from Hudds,, They travel from Sheffield.

The only reason 'no one was bothered' was because it's not the 'norm'.
The 'trial' was a very poor band aid job....for crying out loud, Having to cough up another quid to 'transfer' from your regular seat, Of course it was a flop, it was meant to be...(Problem, reaction, solution..! not hard to work out) Then the club can say 'No one is bothered'.
The workable solution, & you ALL know it, Is unreserved seating, Pay on the day.
If that is the situation...1st game of the season, & left that way untill the end of the season, You will see a very healthy, regular mass of supporters who favour going in that end.
The Health & Safety is a non-issue. Fabricated. made up ! The job has become a self sustaining industry, were they virtually decide & implement their own agenda. The Manchester derby was controled by little more than rows of 'stewards' to separate two hostile sets of fans... no barriers, no sheeting, no blanked off sections.. United were even given the upper tier too.
So any arguments against us having our own end at home are'nt justified.
Look.
Once a public bus company have all the routes sorted out, The timetables in place, The buses, drivers, & maintenance back up organised...The whole thing would run itself..
BUT NO.
'They'...the so called hierarchy have to create a 'job'..continual changes to justify their existence,
Green taxes & regulations are another one...
So too 'health & safety.
Upton Park answers any & all arguments put forward to by negative suggestions to the contrary that the South Stand can't be used by the Home fans.
The FM lower is not an option for 'us' !
The low sun is a real problem...& when it rains, you cop the lot.
Anyway.
'Fork it'........
I want a 'choice' ..Don't tell me where I have to be, & that I have to 'sit'..when clearly every club in the premiership have an option for the home fans, who then make their own choice..behind the goals stood up. or sat down,
No one.
Not one of you have latched onto Fulham ?
their so called 'away end' is mixed ! every game.
never any bother..(If there was, the tabloid comics would be all over it like a rash)... Whether it be cameras or very vigilant policing it works.

I AM.

Our biggest enemy isn't health and safety, or Robinson or whoever...it's 'cant' be bothered' and 'apathy'.
Where the flook is your passion ? no wonder the stadium is like a morgue with so much negativity.
Town fans have been 'conditioned' by successive years of indoctrination...
It's time to stand up and be counted, preferably in the South stand...
,, And after reading through this lot ,,, I have decided what i think is the best set up,, Flexibility,, As Wakey says the ground does lend itself to be cordoned off nigh on anywhere,,,,,,,, The problem is the Town fans who may be told they may have to move either permanently or occasionally,,, And there will be many who do not want to move,, Some may fall out with Town for good, ! Given all the excuses the club come up with in regards of ssafety etc etc,,,,,,, No actual reason the south end of the kilner does not satisfy all the criteria that club have stated in the past, Or is there ? Disabled area ! We cant have our fans in the middle of the away crowd,,,,
What the fence sitters are missing in all this is..
No one is suggesting we all have to stand, in every section of the ground, (or that every fan who prefers to stand is an automatic blockhead - far from it)
CHOICE.
something that is being taken away from us in ever increasing quantity & especially the younger generation, many can't see the danger in that.
I appreciate most, given the choice, would take a seat any day. fair enough. But that doesn't mean everybody wants that...
So is it, " Bug argh you, I've got what I want, I couldn't care less about what you want"....is that it. ?
If it's enforced, (& it is - at Town at least) that smacks of divide & conquer ...
Keeping back the home crowd while 'they' dispersed the (fewer) visitors ?????????? FFS wake up.
Strange, sinister undertones happening down at 'our' club. There's no need for it.

Wages in relation to income,
admission charges...& variations.
Look at how that enormous Terrace works & functions.
(look where they place visitors to that ground)
And as I have mentioned before, To those who reckon it makes no difference having a noisy end....During the game, & at the end. Where, & who do the players go to collectively to celebrate a goal, & show their appreciation at the final whistle to the support given ....
That's right,
The noisy, standing, vocal section.
(At Town. They don't gather together, looking up at the upper tires of the 'Link or LB stands do they ..& why would they)

Make the South stand (It needs a 'name' Ours !
in the knowledge that all occupants will more than likely be standing....& at 75% cost of the Kilner bank, but you'll be stood up so no cheapskate MoanerGroaners need apply
Then lets see how popular it is.
The trouble with all that is the 'MG's' will have to find something else to moan about !
because there will be no one singing giving them headache,(That happened to me too Brycey..Hilarious, I couldn't work out why she would want to come to a live game... ) & no one continually standing up blocking their view,
Yeah, we're a real nuisance aren't we....

"The recent Huddersfield Town Fans Survey generated interesting results about the match day experience of our supporters at home fixtures – both positive and negative.
833 fans completed the Club’s largest ever survey at htafcsurvey.co.uk earlier this year, with 60% of respondents attending 20 of more games during the 2011/12 season.
46% cited the quality of football on display from Simon Grayson’s side as the most important factor in what they look for on a match day, with 42% saying that just being there and seeing the team live is enough for them! Third in the list was the atmosphere inside the ground, but only 7% of respondents ranked as the most important factor at home games...¬"
So if only 7% think the atmosphere in the ground is what attracts them to the games....does that mean 93% don't find the atmosphere attractive ???
Atmosphere isnt an issue for me, just enjoy going watching the footy,on show. South stand waste of time, didnt get filled. Never a long term possibility especially after moving into the championship. Never going to work not enough people bothered. Not knocking efforts of those who made the effort. Move on
Move on,,, Your jedi powers have no effect here..
Why anyone wants to go back to standing when theres a seat provided for you doesnt make any sense to me. Embrace change dont fight it
Embrace change ? Surely you meant "embrace choice",, I cant understand why some who want to be seated are not more supportive of those that want to stand,, Its win win.
It's all about opinions. What I don't get is those who aren't bothered where they sit, or about the atmosphere..are so vehemently opposed to the others who are bothered trying to do something about it ?
I could have the same discussion about how so many fans just seem to like sitting quietly throughout a game and don't contribute to the support the team needs...like, what sort of fans are those...they're not 'fans' (short for fanatics), they're just meek observers who moan about proper fans getting behind their team.
If we carry on like this it's only a matter of time before the club start playing music while the game goes on, something soothing and gentle so you can while away the afternoon in a pacified and dreamlike state...have a nap even ?
Jeez !
The fans do want to stand it's just most of them can't be bothered or don't know how to go about trying to change things.
Take away games for example when away fans have the choice of seating and terracing, which do the majority opt for despite the terraces having a poorer view?
Darn - Make your posts shorter. They go on and on - its like listening to the wife.
Surely when the wife rattles on you just switch off, nod your head and throw in the odd yes every now and again
Jacko what is getting behind your team? Define please
Tattooed....well if you don't know.....
Darn...when are you due over ...?
obviously i have my opinions but id like your thoughts
IMO your flogging a dead horse, south stand will never happen, fm will always be a family stand and the moon isnt made of cheese. Nescafe anyone?
After all the negative stuff from this post, I passed my thoughts on to HTSA, where these things should be taken forward on behalf of supporters.
I note in a recent DATM article they have in fact taken on board some of my suggestions. They have met with the Police about crowd management, and also are asking for a representative on the Safety Advisory Group which sets the crowd management plans before games. Both these matters you would have though should have already existed, but apparently not, so it's good to see that HTSA are coming more pro-active and getting involved in issues that supporters have,
They have far more clout than I have anyway, and have the ears of the club decision makers. So, I've passed on everything that has been suggested and will monitor what happens from now on in.
I thought about joining the committee, but that demands time I don't always have. However, as I have stated before...if you have issues..don't just moan and groan to your mates or on forums, get yourself membership to the HTSA (£5 a year) and talk to the people who have some influence.
Otherwise, nothing will ever happen.
Down to you lot now...
