Shame for the lad, just when he was hitting a bit of form. Looks like he won't be going anywhere in January and I hope he comes back in to our squad and finishes the season well.
Deja vu.
Every time we have a player showing his best form we seem to be tapped on the shoulder with the injury wand.
really bad news as he is our most creative player and starting to weigh in with some goals.even worse news it will inevitably mean more minutes on the pitch for pratley.on the bright side we did not miss him at blackburn were butterfield played well there and gives us an opportunity to change to 4-4-2 without accommendating him on the left or right of midfield.my own choice would be to put eagles in the mavies role and play petrov and lee on the wings but cannot see this happening as i dont think frredman rates petrov.
Been our best individual player recently.
Might be a strange blessing in disguise though. Mavies is a luxury player, him not being available allows for grafters in midfield like Andrews, Pratley and Spearing, along with Holden coming back.
Will be interesting to see, Rowbot.
While he is potentially one of the most talented individuals in the current squad, he just hasn't ever seemed to fit completely comfortably or been able to deliver consistently.
I'd rather have him available than not but I suspect he can be frustrating to play with at times. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see things click into place in the next few games.
It's a bit of a blow, I thought on recent evidence that he was really starting to find the thing that he he's always lacked, and that's consistency.
On the other hand, the times when we've had eagles playing through the middle we've looked dangerous so that's the direction I hope DF will go to plug the gap, with I assume lee or petrov on the wing. Shoving one of our carthorses like pratley or Andrews in there just won't work. Plus Holden will be back soon enough and you never know, this might just gee him up a bit.
Like THC says, I'd like to see Petrov come in and Eagles play in the centre.
Petrov will offer us some natural width, which we don't get with Eagles there. He is a good outlet and often doesn't lose the ball.
Must admit I prefer Eagles in the gap behind the striker.
Though Mavies is the only Bolton player who's really comfortable with the ball at his feet so to lose him is a bit of a blow but I'm sure we'll manage.
Can't see anyone taking him in January now. I suppose that's the good part of it. Although it is only the shoulder. If Swansea wants to have a punt for 6mill it might be worth it.
Ouch bad news for us as Mavies is easily our best midfielder at the moment.
However aas others have pointed out the upside is he probably won't leave us in january as a result and with luck will come back sharp and fresh for the business end of the season. Still, I don't really know how we will do without him unless we bring someone in because IMO eagles is a decent wide player but not so good in the ventre, pratley isn't strong enough and I foresee a lot more pressure being put on our already shaky centre backs as a result of much lost possession in the middle of the park until Mavies is back.
Matt Mills also out for six weeks.
But we have got Omar Holness on trial.
It really doesn't matter if any club was going to sign him or not. Three months is probably the earliest we will see him come back and by the time he gets match fit the season will probably be over.
Not good news but we hope for a return by Stuart Holden. If he can quickly get back to form, that will help.
can we trust these return from injury dates?mavies 3 months, mills 6 weeks? can still remember the headlines last may. "wheater out for 6 months".its now 7 months later and not a sign of wheater coming back.lets not even go there with the holden tale of woe.also josh vela he was supposed to be out for 4 months after his injury v crawley yet no news whatsoever coming out of the club re his comeback which should be quite soon.
Benny:
Everyone heals at different rates.
The figures chucked out will be the general recovery time of an injury of that sort. But there's no way of telling when someone snaps a ligament, how long it will take. The same as when someone's cartilage is severely damaged. It's a guesstimate.
My ankle still hasn't healed from 2 years ago...and now I've gone and ****** the other one up.
At least his fitness levels should stay fairly high. I am no medical expert but light running and cycling next month should be on the cards surely. I fractured my wrist and shoulder in a car smash and I was in the gym the following month. Come on Mark ya big girl ya! We need you so we can get in to an automatic spot by april
