Just because our top teams might not be as good as Barca, Real or Bayern doesn't mean that the overall quality of our league isn't better.
There was a time when Ajax were the best team in the world but the Dutch league was still pants!!
I would fancy that if the German, Spanish and English leagues were merged, the top 10 would finish something like:
Barca
Madrid
Man United
Man City
Bayern
Chelsea
Dortmund
Arsenal
Atletico
Tottenham
...and continue along the lines of:
Malaga
Stuttgart
Everton
Liverpool
Valencia
Newcastle
Villareal
FTS
You raise some good points
And MU82, I do understand where you're coming from.
FTS seems like a very welcome addition to our board

It must be a worry to others that we haven't played well really yet are easily in next stage of CL and 6 clear top of PL.
We will click into gear after this weekends result in my opinion
I think it's very difficult to judge leagues against each other since only the top teams ever play with teams from other leagues. You can't really judge them by themselves.ie, How can you say whether the bottom teams are improving or the top ones are declining.

I'm pretty sure the main reason Pep and Jose want to manage in the PL is money. I heard Pep is interested in the Munich job as well who as well as being one of the richest clubs in the world have great history, a brilliant youth system and an appreciation for their old players, much like Barca.
I can't take people seriously who dismiss the prem.
I wish Barca and Madrid played here. You will appreciate then how difficult this league is and anyone who thinks Utd is a poor side needs his head examined

...............
Me neither.
I have read loads of comments on here recently claiming the Bundesliga to be better than the Prem.
No it isn't. There are many things about how it is ran, and the stadiums and ticket prices that are better, but the actual product isn't.
Even though we aren't playing all that well as a unit, and we aren't playing particularly attractive football, it's been one of the most exciting seasons to watch Utd in a while.
We've become one of those teams that play horrible football but get results.
That doesn't mean we are in a false position.
If stoke were to go on a run playing their football and accumulate points then there position wouldn't be false either.
We are not pleasant as we use to be to watch.
Yeah, Bolt only won because the others were running slower....ain't that the truth...(said the cowardly lion)

We might not play like Barcelona but I don't think you can describe our play as 'horrible' by any stretch of the imagination! We might be defensively frail in some regards but the fact that we are still outscoring the majority of the teams that we have played this season must imply that we are playing good attacking football..
wonder if we could go the whole season without drawing a game?
the "undrawables"
I'd say we are defensively 'horrible' if I'm honest. It's a good job we signed RVP.

I see your point bro but I reckon Rooney would still be banging them in if needed.
If you took Rooney and RvP out, someone else would be banging them in...not as many maybe, but every team scores and has a leading scorer...never forget they are all professionals, but some are much better than others!
We deserve to be top because we are the best of a bad bunch.

The mark of a great team is when they grind out wins when not playing well. We are where we should be

The mark of a great team is one that regularly plays well but ALSO grinds out wins when it is not playing well.
By your definition alone, a great team might never actually play well. To me, that is not a great team!
