He still has 18 months left on his current deal...

I imagine his agent is saying he is one of our best players and he plays for England and as such we want £45k.

We'll be saying, well he is only a kid and we put him there so £20k.

It's his first prof contract so should be fairly straight forward so why the delay?

-----

I imagine that would be exactly why it wouldn't be as straight forward; given that he is now in a position to negotiate himself a good deal.

I wouldn't worry though, you've got an absolute gem there and I don't see him leaving any time soon!

Seems to be a down-to-earth lad as well

He will sign, just relax.

Negotiations take a while sometimes, especially mid season when everyone involved has other matters to contend with.

As above, he has 18 months left on his current deal, there is no desperate rush yet.

If we were Arsenal I would be in a panic and struggling to sleep at night because we wouldn't even start negotiating till next year at this time...

He's so down to Earth that he does not use a condom.

Actually Robbing, I think he is denying parenthood of the third child. So that's alright then. JimmyTheRed

Good lad. Save us £10k a week that will.

If he wants to have regular playing time at a very youthful side heading in the right direction, ahead of money and the wages, It would be great of him to sign...

However, if he wants the 50K that is being thrown around, I would tell him to do one. Yes he is a great talent, but who put faith in him, who gave him his first start, who helped him become one of the best teenagers in the world? Liverpool FC, and if he wants to put his bank account ahead of our club, I wouldn't be sad to see him leave.

Can't stand players whose aim is the money and the hype, and no 18 year old should even be thinking about 50K a week, let alone demanding it.

That is 'if' these rumoured stories are true, which hopefully they aren't

Just imagine being on even 20k a week at 17 over a million pound annual earnings!!!

At 17 the average person is probably lucky to earn half that weekly wage in a year...!!!

CRAZY!!!!

No need to panic yet.

Unfortunately until he signs, people will question the fact that he hasn't, and the tabloid rags and the wums will circle. Logic dictates the longer he waits the more money he can demand if he keeps his form at the standard he has shown, so we may have to sit tight. saying that, he will probably sign tomorrow.

He's 18 now. Like I said if I was one of the best players and I was a full England International I'd want paying accordingly. That's what his agent will be saying and that's his job.

I'm also pretty sure he would rather be in London. Saying that I can see him going well of the rails if he went back.

Can you blame him when he sees rothmans on about £90k per week? Why should he be on a fraction of what cole is on, when he contributes so much more? He is worth so much more than cole, surely there should be some parity. He could get a career ending injury next week and let's face it, the odds increase as stoke are in the same division

The people who don't want us to pay what Raheem is worth must want us to turn into Arsenal.

That is logical conclusion when you have strict wage ceilings, your best players leave.

Raheem is an England International, a Premier League regular. His age is almost irrelevant, its only relevance is in the stage of his Liverpool career compared to some of his team-mates.

He is worth whatever someone else is willing to pay him.

If Man City/Chelsea/Man Utd will pay him 50k a week, then we pay him it, or we are just Arsenal mark 2 and can look forward to a trophy-less future.

It's a good argument Mervin, but shouldn't clubs - all clubs - be trying to do more to keep our youngsters grounded? It's like Welbeck holding out for £80k p/w and Pogba leaving because we wouldn't give him £50k a week after a handful of first team substitute apperances!!

However, i'm sure that whatever fee his agent swindles for him will be more than worth it in the long run!

It depends who is whispering in his ear telling him, at 18 years of age, how great he is and how much more he can demand/earn if he listens to their advice. What Number 21 correctly alludes to is: loyalty. Now, there's a big word to spell, isn't it? JimmyTheRed

Imagine a world without football agents...

Why would he be loyal? Was he loyal to QPR?

His conscience will be clear as we bought him for £500k. I have heard that price has gone up considerably since he got capped for England.

Sterling can come to Arsenal. We have no probz paying youths exorbitant sums, although if his career continues at this rate we might be selling him off to one of the big boys in record time.

Thus far, in the absence of his signature on a contract, to his agent and his bank account, deffo. JimmyTheRed

I bet Rooney was on £50k when he first went to Utd.

I think Raheem will be loyal to the contract he wants.
