Let's have it right, Downing - with zero goals and zero assists - did less than a wet fart in contributing towards that trophy. Liverpool won it in spite of Downing
----------------------
Actual wasn't it Downing's assist which sent us to the final? Didn't he get MotM in the final too?

Downing one trophy in one season. Arsenal's entire squad, no trophies in eight seasons.

This is easy! <

TOOR is repeating the same drivel. I think he's a bit wound up.

I'm expecting him to filter me now, like the last time i question his statement that Downing was still bedding in!

It's not drivel though, you just don't like it!

I wonder why?

Downing one trophy in one season, Arsenal's whole squad, zero trophies eight years!

That really is a damning fact of which there can be no comeback

Well at leat i'm not sad enough to filter those opinions i disagree with.

And yes, Downing has won a shiny new CO.C. He's still the worst player in the premier league. No amount of trophies will hide that fact!

and Djimi Traore was a poor defender but by God, I wouldn't swap the European cup (which he played a huge part in) for a nice cheap defender who won zilch season after season

I think you are overlooking a certain Mr Gervinh

Ok I went too far, I would actually have Downing over Yao Koassi.

posted on 14/12/12

So would i, though probably for £10m only!

In fairness, I'd rather have Gervinh.

Well at least in our system that we employ.

However that's not her nor there.

Somebody needs to save them from dizzying prices...

Really. Downing doesn't fit our system. His best attribute is crossing and he can't do it. He's redundant in our system.

RAP, that's actually what I was getting at! Players like Downing and, unfortunately, now Giggs as more of a hinderance to the team! Downing is a championship player. Any attacking player playing in a team struggling for goals that gets converted to a LB. should consider retirement!

Someone please show TOOR a clip of Gervais' Bradford miss and then ask him who he would prefer.

Yeah Jordi Alba is certainly ready to retire. Silly thing to say.

When you don't have cover for left back and your left back is injured, sometimes, in a system where your full backs get forward, it's better to play a wide player there, than a defender.

Downing has been a top player in the Premier League for years, regularly being one of the top chance creators season after season, he's a good Premier League player, he just doesn't fit us.

It's not just about individual mistakes. It's about how they fit the team. Gervinh would fit our system better than Downing.

Sometimes having a worse player is better....

TOOR.. was jordi alba in a team struggling for goals and creativity??
Are you implying that Downing could be the next Jordi Alba... There's the famous scouse humour!!!!

What has being in a team struggling for goals got to do with it? If you have nobody to get on the end of Downing's crosses, his main strength, then it's redundant. Better to use him somewhere where his secondary qualities can be used than put him in his natural position where he is of no use.

And yes, again he has been a good Premier League player for seasons and one of the top chance creators in the league for years. He just doesn't fit with us, for obvious reasons. You only have to watch a game when he plays on the wing. He gets into a position where before he'd have taken on the full back and whipped the cross in but instead has to either cross to a basically empty box and get slated or turn back and pass it backwards and get slated. He's redundant and needs to be sold, if we are to continue with this system.

No, he is not suggesting that Downing will be the next Alba. He is just saying that you are a fool to say, if an attacking player is converted into a LB, he should retire. Just read it in the context, its really not that difficult, you numpty!

posted on 14/12/12

Well I would say that any attacking player with any pride would be ashamed to be converted to a defensive player in a team struggling for goals and creativity... Where's his pride...

FYI, calling someone a numpty doesn't make them a numpty; merely highlights your own mental inadequacy...

...and if you read it in the context that I would be within my rights to read it; as a direct reply to my comment, then it really isn't stretching the boundaries to draw that implication..
