Bopara in Lions squad. Why?

Shouldn't the young players be in the Lions squad?
Like you say, England know him by now.

I don't get the Bopara myth. He is only getting his fare share of chances due to Gooch being in the England setup but apart from this purple patch against a poor West Indies team he does not look international class.

The man will never stop puzzling me. He fails and fails and fails and yet just as I completely write the man off and think he should be nowhere any England team at any level, he suddenly hits 200 off about 20 ball
We have some good selectors doing a great job these days, and if they pick they must see something in him that I dont.
Good luck to Ravi. I like the guy but am not sure he will ever play for England again. I think Morgans days are numbered too. That man is going to be a liability for our test match team very soon.

Get James Taylor in.

You rate him highly Hoggy? Is he playing well these days? Do you think Morgan is a slogger and not much else too?

Think Taylor is very talented Maksi, in all formats of the game.
Not Denigrating Morgan, but I do think Taylor is a better batsman, especially for tests, even though he hasn't played particularly well in the County Championship this season.

hmm I was just about to say we should just chuck him in in the next test match but I am a little worried if he is struggling in the County Championship so far this season. Do you think he would do better than Morgan anyway, in this series against India?
I ask because I just don't want to see Morgan on our team sheet for the next one, even though I know he is capable. If we are going to be the best team in the world then we need quality in all positions. I was calling kp the weaklink and he proved me right in the second innings lol even though that brings his average in this series to a weak 202 .

Im not saying Bopara is the man - but I always think there is room for 2 or 3 old heads in the lions side

For me Morgan is still on probation but clearly both Flower and Strauss rate him highly.
I fear he may be another ODI player who will be only moderate in the test arena, al a Fairbrother.

I'd have been tempted to bring Taylor in for this series but I think it's a little early to totally write off Morgan, and that would also go against England's policy of sticking with players once they've identified them.
Certainly think Morgan has to produce in the next couple of tests though, and I would think that Taylor is probably next cab off the rank.

That's true hope, and the captain and the selector know their stuff for sure. I am guessing we have every right to trust them these days ? Happy days mate ?

In other words, Bopara nowhere near it!

I am also a huge Taylor fan. Amazing talent.

The facr that Bopara is in both squads of 12, suggests he is certain to play. Otherwise he wouldn't have been included in the squads.
