Im from East Kilbride, and there are a good few municiple courses up there which are actually pretty good.

Torrance House being the best.

Dont have to worry about having the best of gear or having snobby members to contend with, so might be an idea for some of the not so regular players?

Golf mate. Thats the way to go. But definitely find a good pro and get some lessons - and do it before the bad habits kick in. There's no substitute

I dont agree, I decided against lessons and instead shelled out about £4k on equipment.

Ive got about 15 drivers, 9 putters and an electric trolley.

After 15 years, I can now play off of about 28

We have a few courses out here.

But what about the next night out being in the Golf Lounge in Town?

We could do the Golf Day out at a course that's central for everyone.

I took up golf this year. Play off 26 had a few lessons which have helped massively.

Mitre - 28! That's very impressive after only 15 years. Then again when you think that zico is going to win a major this year you might have been a little slow on the uptake.

Haha, in the essence of fairness, im actually off about 15, but not had an official handicap in a few years.

Best round was 7 over, which was just the most amazing thing ever.

Annoying thing is though, golf being golf, the only bloody shot I can remember from the round was the 2 footer I missed on the 11th! IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN 6!!!!!!!

Signing off in a minute. Final comment on this. Everyone who can should try golf. You don't have to be good - the handicap system takes care of that. But there is more pleasure in the game for bad players than good ones. If you're a good player you expect to play well and get annoyed when you don't. I know - one of my lads plays off 2 if you're a bad player (like me) you only need to hit one good shot and it feels amazing.
