Billy has gone from 40/1 to 5/1 in the last 10 minutes!
I can't see it being mcleish it was there last time and they never looked at him. I'll happily defend the owners for sacking SoD. I understand that and don't really think they ever wanted.
I couldn't defend the appointment of McLeish. But I don't think it will be a problem
A couple of things;
How do you feel about the SO'D sacking? He was performing respectably and had injury problems to deal with - while he failed to find consistent form he still had you lads doing well, and with a transfer window or two, the injuries calming down, etc... Could have well done a good job for you?
Having said that, your owners are highly ambitious and have set the bar very high. This can only be a good thing providing they aren't morons.
Lastly, I really hope that you get Roberto Di Matteo. Not only is he a fantastic manager but he's a personal hero, and Forest have always been my second team (been to lots of your games, stepdad was Forest, I have a lot of love for them). You are probably the only other English club i'd be happy to see Robbie manage.
I watched Sky Sports when he was on.
Basically the reporter said, 'The bookies favourite is McCleish, he is odds-on, what would you think to working with him.'
Collins then said 'Well yeah he did very well for Birmingham, and got them promoted so it would be good to work with him.' (Along them lines)
He isn't going to come out and say 'I don't want to work with him' incase McCleish is appointed, is he!?
I genuinely hope he is not appointed.
I hope you're right. The way it was reported he said he was looking forward to working with him, but we all know not to trust the journos to bother to repeat what was actually said.
Why just negativity about McLeish. Got B'ham promoted (after relegation) and won the League Cup. Him and Villa were never gonna be a good match - I'd be happy to see him at the CG !! Although I would like to see RDM given the job - lots of people seem to have good things to say about him.
Mcleish has always played negative, boring, unattractive football - I think it's just the most disheartening possible follow up to a manager who was working hard to bring attractive passing football back to our club. It felt like we'd finally made a sensible move that would eventually move to great football and better times ahead, and with AM it won't be.
Hoons - why wasn't he a good match for Villa - and more to the point, why IS he a good match for Forest?
Other than the fact that you have an affinity with obnoxious some-time hoofball merchant Scotsmen, of course.
I think Sky have just taken his answer and thought it was nailed on Mcleish was becoming our new manager.
Personally Hoons, I can't stand him as a manager. Living off his reputation with Rangers, such a negative manager, and I will certainly not be going down to watch them. I don't think he won the League Cup, just Arsenal lost it.
I remember the day Birmingham were relegated, they were away at Tottenham and I think needed to draw to stay up (Might have been a win). They were 2-1 down. He had one striker on the pitch till the last 5 minutes. Certainly not a manager to I'd like at the City Ground.
I have a couple of friends who are Villa fans, and they despise him as a manager.
Don't get me wrong i'd rather have SOD back than any name that's been mentioned ... I've just seen so many managers branded the wrong way ... just look at SOD, everyone said he tried to impress attractive passing football, but he himself came out and said that was boll0x (more or less), and that he never even does passing sessions in training. To come out and say a manager will play 'negative boring unattractive football' is rubbish ... I don't believe for a second that any half decent manager, for example, would tell a pacey exciting winger to drop deep and play more defensively .. it just doesn't happen !!
Easy to say I dislike him, but if he came in and got us promoted this season we would all be singing his praises.
Football is a fickle sport!
Owen Coyle looks favourite at the moment from what I'm hearing. Better than mcleish but it does seem odd to sack SoD to bring him in.
Coyle would be a good choice
I think

Oh dear!
Exclamation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of the responses to the above Sky article 95.45% are unequivocally and unambiguously against The Big Eck being appointed - that's serious anti-matter...
