We will work on the banned words bit of the site, but it will probably be many months down the line.....The way it works at the moment, the banned word algorithm is fuzzy so it is difficult to pin down exact words.
"It's .hit and miss" triggers it for example
as does s"*"....or the use of * in some situations.
lol.
i have had same problem and took me a while to work out said banned word, cant remember what it was now,but it wasn't an offensive word.
i don't normally write 5 paragraphs though so easier for me lol.
agree, if could have a red squigle or something would be helpful and appreciated
You can also make a complaint(about yourself) and include the problem text in your "complaint text" if that makes sense
We can then have a look to see what the issue or bug is.
I find when you put a * next to words, it bans it too. Strange.
Yeah I think it was definitely the "*HILARIOUS.*" in your comment.
starts are often used to mask swear words so s star and f star trigger it.
e.g. you are talking total s star you complete f star would be the kinda thing we would often see.
The hideous Paul Merson-ism "He'(s) hit the beans on toast jeff" triggers it
Like knotty i spent what seemed like an age trying to work out what was triggering it. Highlighting the banned part is an excellent idea.
As your here admin, what about click-able links in threads? This would be a an excellent addition to the site imo.
We might do this but because it is an exit point of the site might send people via ad portal first.
Great article, I have also been caught out by this. Would be great to have the words underlined, but I'd even settle for the matched word(s) returned in the "ErrorBox" div under the warning message.
For links, have them open in a new tab...

The match words will now appear in the error box.
