We ARE best mates! It's that Imre who's a twot!
There's Coke aswell.
...and the loan market if needed.
Palmer played wide last night didn't he, not really his best position although I do agree he's too wet behind the tabs to be a regular fixture. However, if we were to be playing 5 across the midfield from time to time then I think he could be the one to push forward from the centre whilst 2 others do the graft.

jeez.. and you say I get defensive?
Disagree with me all you want - just find that usually when you do, you pick up on some reasonable assumption someone's made and start saying 'noone has any idea' etc etc. Of course no one knows - if they did we wouldn't be speculating on a msg board would we...
coke semedo prutton ,are the best players jj we will just have to wait and see ,jones is good backup and palmer is going to have to step it up! then there is sedgewick ? and joc ? so im counting we have 5 or 6 worthy of a place ,so with megsons 5 man midfield away from home for sure ! we are extremly thin we need at least 3 more in there ,not to mention a striker or 2 ?
Stop being so defensive, you two! It's strikers we need!
Taut,
There was nowt defensive about it matey, was just explaining myself.
Specualte all you want, no problem with that at all but I just find it a bit off to use mere speculation as a stick to beat the club with.
1973,
Sedgwick is more than adequate at this level IMO. Yeah, he's not flash or owt but he'll put a decent shift in as & when required.
I know Megson played a 5 man midfield a fair bit last year but I think 442 is his preferred option - need to get those new strikers in though!!
"Stop being so defensive, you two! It's strikers we need!"
......and to think there's folk out there claim you have no place on this board, izzy!
the thing is mr monster allthough we would like to see 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 even ,megson will play 4-5-1 on the road all of the time ! so with 5 decent middle men and 2 absalutly carp middle men !and jj ???????????' the middle is short by a long way ,there will be injuries and there will be suspentions ! and upfront we only have 3 strikers i mean modest isnt going to come off the bench and win you the game is he ? and in morrison we are all crossing our fingers and toes that he shows up at all this season

There are those who claim I have no place anywhere.....
So then, what you're saying is that we need a few more players.
Is deleting your own posts a form of masochism?
i didnt make 34 comments i only made 4 ! but yes we all know that we need more players allthough our defence is looking very good ! unless you put joc at right back that is ????????????????
and izzy aparantly imre knows where youre sister lives ?
So what? What's he going to do, dig her up?
I'm a little confused....... are people moaning that we have strength in depth now at CB????
4 first choice CB's is ideal is it not??? Did Man Utd not just pay the best part of £20M for a CB who is not first choice next season, along with extend the contract of Smalling, who also, isn't deemed first choice??
Exactly Ginge...... I'd typed "exactly Y-Fronts" but that's a whooooole other thread!
It was always a fair assumption that Batth was coming back to Hillsborough one way or the other this season. So it's hardly worth questioning the timing of his signature. Whether it happened before or after we sort our forward options shouldn't matter.
As for having 4 recognised centre backs in the squad..... I'd sooner have more options in ANY department than be threadbare once the injuries start kicking in.
On a completely unrelated note... saw THREE new Wednesday kits around Chester Zoo yesterday.... fair enough it could have been the same bloke, I'm hardly the most observant type.
Well you can't compare Man U's defence to ours even if it's just a point you're making lol I could get 5 kids from the park call em CB's now I have strength in depth for that position....doesn't mean there's quality there
Now paying 20M for a backup CB that's been scouted by the best scouts in the world no doubt brings strength in depth.
As far as our team is concerned you just can't make it up...No it's not a poor awful team but for crying out loud it's going to grind and grind to get into the top 6.
And I'm the one with blinders on?
Stateside, I completely disagree, I wasn't comparing our team to anybody, you've missed the point entirely!
My point is that in any division, any team, it's good to have 4 very capable players to fill CB, for me it's a complete no-brainer!
It's a big part of the jigsaw completed, especially as that was our weakest area last season!
I'm not arguing we don't need strikers blah blah blah, what I'm stating is that that area is now covered with strength in depth. That is all.
Nothing wrong with having 4 central defenders but surely people can see that it looks slightly comical to be signing more defenders when we have 2 strikers..
Not if the opportunity to purchase/loan the defenders presents itself before we're able to secure the strikers we all, in complete agreement, agree are needed Taut?
We've been trying to sign strikers though, haven't we. It's not like we've been ignoring that area. The Mellor saga is well documented, we've been turned down by O'Grady & we've been linked with others.
Just happens that we've managed to secure the players we wanted in the defensive & central midfield areas.
Well I have to disagree with the rest of you, I think we need a couple of strikers
....and forwards Mike... don't forget the forwards?
And to the guy who was on about Man Utd, they can probably keep 4 defenders happy. (Not that it's comparing like for like at all but hey...) We, on the other hand, might end up losing Beevers or Reda because Batth is in the team, only for him to sod off back to Wolves in January.
Anyway, as others have said it, bringing defenders in doesnt mean we arent trying to sign players in other areas etc. I just found it a bit comical and unecessary but oh well.
