Gutted!
Was one of my favourite players a few years back
do you think he has been persuaded by Henry etc to go to America to play for one last pay day, or you think there is more to this?
get the point about retiring the shirt, but if Utd and Liverpool had done that down the years we would have no ruddy numbers left to play
great player though.
Coming to the end of an era.
That's all well and good but what's the breaking news about lamps? Yet another DFS sale??
Send him this.

Believe agent or believe Terry....hmmmmm
JFDI he's leaving. This isn't media spin/bull/rumours. Been reported on heavily in the last couple of days.
Doesn't seem surprising really I didn't he'd sign a new contract all season
Yes but it's been misinterpreted; he's not going to the USA to play, just to meet with the Glazers before signing for United!
Terry doesn't know how to use technology
In all fairness I think Lampard will likely go at the end of the year but it will pan out something like this.
Chelsea will offer Lamps a short term contract to stay towards the en of the season.
The Media will claim it was a last ditch dergotary attempt to keep him and Lampard turned it down in disgust.
The reality, Lamps will feel he has still more to offer and willl decide to move somewhere he as he believes he still has more to offer.
When we signed Lampard for 11 million I thought we had made a mistake, I knew he was an okay player but didn't think he was worth 11 million. In his first 2 seasons he only did okay but didn't show the form we grew used to, but Raneiri did tend to play him wide. He grew into the team though and excelled when competition came in with Romans investment and has easily repaid his fee by now.
As great a servant he has been for the club and as much as I would lke to see him stay and see out his careeer we have to accept the passage of time, it's been 13 years, quite a career for anyone, change is inevitable and we have to cope without him eventually.

I know that, that's why you don't see me posting a Lamps is leaving article every couple of days. Change is inevitable.
That's not what I was getting at. I noticed you posted that link about what his agent said last night to suggest nothing is final yet between Chelsea and Lampard. Everything suggests it is.
I posted that because despite the fact it was being touted about last night there were no links, I then posted my view on Lamps position just above to clarify my view.
I posted that because despite the fact it was being touted about last night there were no links, and OP had posed a bye bye link. I will say bye to Frank when he goes, not when dodgy media reports are released.
Terry isn't a dodgy media report.
No he isn't, nor is he involved in the management of the club, despite what some might say. But that is not the reason I posted the link though if it were, you take your pick of Terry or Lampards agent as to what to believe and let's face it the latest rumours are supposedly based on something the agent denies having said.
If we get rid off Lampard, Cole and even Terry we must buy or bring through some quality home grown players, otherwise our small squad now will start to look huge.
isnt it only 17-18 non home grown players in your 25 man squad??
We have potential in our youth team but lets be honest we will have to spend ridiculous amounts of money to replace these players with English replacements in the transfer market.
Bertrand, Josh and Chalobah, instant replacements, should we go down that route and have the need to replace.

Noone is ridding anyone. JDFI explained it quite clearly already. Senior players will leave because of better financial options on offer overseas. It is natural evolution at work.
people need to remove the lampard sentimental mentality here , next season he will be 35 years old , hes not like paulo ferreira who is on much lower wages so keeping him on the books as a squad player doesint nearly have the same effect. lampard is on something crazy like 150K a week, the club are trying to break even. lampards been a great stand in player this season , but thats it , he isint the main man in midfield anymore . the fact is mata is our best player easly now , and we should be giving him a more meaty contract to ensure we keep him for his peak years , not keeping guys like lampard on crazy money.

We are going to end up like Arsenal.
You NEED experience in the squad, it's why Ferguson, the best manager in building a squad possibly ever, always has two or three players who have been there and done it.
