Just goes to show the lack of investment for McAuley and co to widen the network, now I dont know much about how the youth system works but surely plenty of investment to widen the youth network and scouting system (which we didnt have for 10-15 years )would improve things, its very worrying that when our youth team is getting beaten every week. Look at the players we have brought through in the last 15 years that have gone on to bigger things? Yep, cannot think of one player from our youth set up that is in the premiership and I think the last one was Bromby when he was at the sty a few years back. For me the best player we have brought through in all this time is Richard Wood and we sold him for sod all practically (Unless his contract was nearly up). I remember Owen Morrison when he scored that great solo goal v West Ham in Carling cup about Ten years back, the likes of Liverpool was after him and then his wotsit took a one way trip up his @r5e and where is he now?? MM has a lot of work to do to turn us into a great club again and we should begin with investing more on youth and esp a scouting system as well as the first team.
