This is why there's so much frustration amongst Leeds fans right now: the team has ill-fitting parts and we clearly have holes that need filling. Why has it taken this long to sort out? It screams KB and SG had no plan or at best a floored plan. Now, we're about to find out what the consequences are. I have a feeling Southampton will be too much for us on opening day.
Mainly because I don't think SG knows his best, most cohesive 11. I don't think the players know either?
This could be a rude awakening to the reality of all the inactivity. Your list outlines it well. And I agree with you. Hold on tight. It's gonna be bumpy.
Wakefield, I agree with much of what you say, except for the bit about Harte.
We could have had him for nothing a couple of seasons ago, but plenty on the old site thought like you. That season he was carlisles top scorer, weighing in with 21 goals. If we had have had those goals we would have got promoted a season earlier.
He went to Reading and was part of a big transformation there, which actually got them into the PO final last season Hartes performances have been mega consistent for 3 seasons, and he plays midfield now, an area we have been sadly lacking. Can't get my head around us not signing a freebie of his quality. Yes I know he was never arkle, but he's a good experienced football head, whichg we need.
Please bates go out and get Johnstone from City, as they're about to loan him out
I agree that we need to sign a LB, CB, CM and ST for us to have a capable squad to compete like we did at times last year. If these signings were to happen between now and the end of the transfer window then we could try offload Bessone, Bromby and Paynter. However in reality at this late stage that really would be an explosion of activity. Being critical of the club though we should have got a LB, CB and CM weeks ago as we've known all along these areas we are short/weak in.
As for Howard coming to Leeds, don't know if Leicester would be stupid enough to loan to a rival competitor, anyway they need him for the 3 points against us. Grayson must be losing faith fast in Paynter and with Becchio out and our tough August fixtures he needs to act in some way.
August could be a nightmare at this rate.
Doc,
Fair points on Harte he has had a bit of an indian summer in his career. I'm surprised he had such success at Reading particularly and fair play to him.
My reference was really that we have not had a good left back in a generation. A lot of people look at Harte's goals and champion him as a good left back. My memory of his last two years at ER were of wingers skinning him for fun game after game after game.
i can see panic buys in the near future
snotgrass, it certainly smells of that. That could mean more ill-fitting parts, team chemistry going off again, and a few odd team selections. Why oh flaming why was this not seen by the brain trust?
Suceesful teams are the ones with the right balancewe have no left back short in midfield and have 2 useless strikers + no hopers
is john carew on a free. Some amature journo posted on twitter we wanted him lst week. No truth in it me thinks
And call me old-fashioned but, unlike our manager, I like my starting strikers to score goals. Maybe it's just me?
i agree batty it would help if our strikers could score, paynter looks like he couldnt hit a barn door and mcormack missed another pen the other day did'nt he
Snot, the telling thing will be if P & Mc continue to show nothing and SG sticks with them regardless of fans opinion. If he does, does that mean he does not fear losing his job as Bates likes the fact that SG doesn't rock the spendthrift boat? Or does that mean SG is as stubborn as a mule?
Kasper going was to start sorting the defence but apart from kissa it is much worse with the loan signings going back. Grayson talks as much gargage as bates as we can see through it just the same.
Robby, most of us can see through it. Not all.
Grayson seems to be taking the role of bates,s lap dog
