Leroy Lita is the total package.

I'm building a gibet and sourcing a suitably strong enough rope that will hold my bodyweight until I breathe my last.

Given DJs previous recruiment choices Id say Lita would be an excellent signing and one that I might actually be fairly pleased with.

You often hear people saying "why are we getting him, hes only scored x amount of goals in x amount of games" but at the end of the day, you cant seriously expect a striker who is running riot can you? Who would want to sell a striker who is banging the goals in? Burnely arent exactly going to accept peanuts for Austin are they.

I disagree with signing injured players and or total garbage ones ie Sidibe but we need to be realistic about who we can get.

Its a choice of a player who has lost form or a top striker from a lower division. For me the latter is the best option which is why we should have stumped up the cash for Le Fondre when we had the chance.

DJ should be chatting to Mr Di Canio asking how much is required for Matt Richie

Its a step up from Betty, at this rate DJ might make a real quality signing in 3 years, in League 2!!

Bad jokes aside, 3 in 10 for Brum is not a bad record at a team who have scored the same number of home goals as us, (and 5 more away).

Take his goals away and they'd be 4 points worse off, a point above us.

I'm not sure who else is realistically available that will do a better job?

Good points on Lita. I respectfully disagree with the notion that he is a good signing.

I'd rather get a kid in with a bit of verve, energy and enthusiasm, not someone who is looking to see out their days in 'Paycheque Golden Days Lower League Retirement Village' thank you.

Lita - yes, not bad a few years back but exposed as inconsistent especially now in his latter days. He had a purple patch at Reading granted - that is all.

Lita is not the answer IMHO.

WAWAW?

The way I see it is, whilst I agree that a younger and hungrier striker will put in double the amount of effort (and score too) the financial side regarding transfer fee's will be the stumbling block. I think what with the position we are in we need someone with good experience at this level and DJ fits the bill, now I dont know what wages he is on at QPR but his transfer fee wouldnt be that high at all given the fact he is 31 and not (i assume) even going to be considered for the first team, esp if 'Arry begins his infamous "weeling nad dealing" antics this window! Even on loan till the seasons end would be more viable as his goals are needed here.

Had we more money then yes a younger and hungrier stiker from the lower leagues (L1 & L2) would be an attractive option but whilst the wages would be much of a problem, they (the L1/ L2 team) wouldnt accept a fee in the region that MM would be willing to pay out.

I agree. With our budget I can't see how we could do any better. And who knows? Perhaps he might go against recent tradition and NOT turn to s h it as soon as he pulls on our shirt.

the triumph of hope over experience!

Pretty much every stiker is going to struggle when the team lumps it forwards, the wingers don't cross it, and the midfield are non existent and sit too deep.

The tactics, as much as the personnel need to be addressed quickly.

Unfortunately I don't see Jones changing his mentality or tactics and Lita, or whoever leads the line will probably struggle.

If he ends up playing on his own upfront, he will struggle to make any impact at all.

Priority should should be strengthening the midfield, wingers who can cross the ball (we have tall stikers who would benefit form this) and a quick centre half (lets face it, Llera will be gone in Jan and Taylor hasn't impressed so far.).

Screw this tranfer window oppo up and it will be League 1 by Easter.

I agree Earls

Persoanlly im very pessimistic about both our chances of survival and that of who DJ will bring in, it worries me that he'll extend Sids loan further and any others he will bring in will be worse or just as bad as his other signings he has made.

DJ has made such a mess of things that I think the only way we will survive is if we sack DJ, bring back Meggy and for him to restore the same type of morale that we had last season....but I know MM wont have him back so that makes us s crewed

Get him in. He must be better than the shower we have currently (COG aside ). Little nippy runner alongside the granite outhouse is what we need.
Leicester city have a small army of strikers now, Jamie Vardy might be worth a loan given that he's not even been on bench recently.

posted on 7/1/13

Vardy, good shout Prof....not that DJ would agree, the more talented forwards we have dont even get a look in (Pecnik, Rodri, Maguire and Madine )

For DJ its Sidibe all the way

Izzy you do know that tradition is hard to change don't you? !!!!!

Regarding Lita, he's younger than i first thought (28/29) but after a suffering a serious leg break or two he'll never produce anything like the quality that we desperately need and for me would be a highly risky wage burden rather than a plus.

BTW Didn't he reject us a few years back or am I mistaken???

Id like us to sign Lita on a 2 year deal. He will do naff all this season but he could be absolutely brilliant in League One next season.

On the manager front people have been saying that we shouldnt sack DJ because theres nobody else out there. Well, I disagree now because Sean O'Discoll is available and if he cant get this bunch of players playing football nobody can

Well Wolves missed a trick by not plumping for So'D IMO. Interesting that Wolves didn't go for Curbishley - is he infectious??

I can't see it happening for us unless its this week.

Is he even alive?

posted on 8/1/13

I think he has a string sticking out of his stomach and when you pull it, it plays one of ten standard managerial phrases, perhaps Curbs' mechanism is stuck on one phrase only though; hence no forthcoming job offers.

What is irritating is when you see speculation in the press that clubs like Bristol City are after people like Liam Kelly from Kilmarnock for a price of £150k. The man is 22 and has international exoperience under his belt.

Not exactly a world class player admittedly, but at that price why aren't we linked to or indeed scouting that far afield for good additions to the squad - instead of this we have DJ trying to lure ageing ex-colleagues to join his gravy train.

'International exoperience'? Is he a crab?

posted on 8/1/13

He'd be just right for our midfield if he was!!

Jay Tabb is available...

Would be a brilliant signing imo.
