Zaha for 15million? You can keep him!

Feeling is mutual. I mean, we disagree on a lot here but i appreciate your contribution here and i think though sometimes misguided, you are an intelligent chap.

VC is an interesting character. Naturally, i respect him and consider him a doyen in this board (at least it seems he is much older from his tales) but he can be very belligerent. Yesterday, he' called me out' but i don't have the patience or wherewithal - like you - to get involved in online spats; i just get bored.

We are in the championship yes but have you not notice the amount of Premier Legaue players that are our league at the moment on loan or teams who have just come down- we see good quality players visiting Selhurst often- the last was Wolves and Zaha turned Sako into a pretzl. Of course they got relegated blah blah but the point is he is still a good quality player, Olsson at Blackburn is another example. When we play the Seaweed watch him turn Mr Bridge inside out too (he was injured when we smashed them 3-0 at our gaff).

Of course I am going to be bias- he is our best player and of course I am going to defend him. I just don't see how people can mention the England debut when he had 7 minutes at the end of the game to set his stall out. Hardly fair really is it!? My point re is the season ticket is I have seen him since his debut when he scored on the opening day v Leicester last year and progress on to what I believe is the most exciting prospect outside the top flight.

Surely Ferguson's job is to spot the potential and nuture it like he has done to so many other players as much as it is to buy the finished product. We have Wilf under contract. Mr Parish wants £20m. Take it or leave it chaps...

For that price, leave it. I can promise you he will not be going for that price.

Besides, who's to say that Zaha won't develop into a better player than Kagawa?
------------------------------------------------

He won't.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of coarse he won't, "because he is already a lot better"

You lot have forgotten what Zaha did to your defence last season in the cup at Old Trafford, he made your defence look like Jackasses.

Haha well that's mighty kind of you- cheers!!

Makes me laugh cos it's Man U we should be thankful you are going to take our best player and because we ain't rolling over as our owners have a combined worth of half a billion it seems you are annoyed!

Besides just seen this from a Palace fan site- Manchester United chief exec David Gill suggests they will go for Wilf in the summer: "If we did do something with Zaha, that would be for the summer. He's one of the players we're looking at."

All gone very quiet since this was posted:-
Chief executive David Gill says Crystal Palace starlet Wilfried Zaha is a player Manchester United are looking at, but suggested no move would be made until the summer.

Zaha, 20, has been one of Palace's standout players this season and has subsequently attracted interested from the Premier League.

Gill says: "He's one of the players we're looking at. There's a long way to go...but that would be one for the summer."

Still silence, it seems the bullsh!ters and bluffers have been out bluffed by the minnows of Selhurst.

Maybe Zaha is a last resort?

Apparently one of the add ons is a loan of the moanu refs for the rest of the season.

I'm guessing by that you mean SAF has assembled a poor squad atm?

Gill should be sacked if we ever sign this donkey and that too for anything above 5m.

The Daily Fail are running this story today..

"Manchester United will make a formal bid for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha, 20, in the next 48 hours - but will play hardball with the Championship club by making a cash offer as low as £6m!"

Bet United end up shelling out 10mil him. What a waste of 9.5 mil!

Complete made up story by the Sportsmail, with not one direct quote from anyone, no substance to it at all.

"Sportsmail understands United will play hardball with the Championship club by making a cash offer as low as £6million.

Would love to be a fly on the wall when Steve Parish receives that call, WUM United will find out that a certain Steve Parish owns the copyright to playing hardball.

Here is a direct quote from SP to a "LLCOOLSTEVE" on BBS after he called SP & SB liars, "Quote" I get up everyday and try to make this club better, you call yourself a fan and you just spout complete nonsense masquerading as fact. I don't even know who you are, Dougie never mentioned you to me, did you even know him? Who knows who cares but when Wilf is still here playing for us after January are you going to publicly apologise for intimating I am a liar?
That intimates to me that SP & Co have no intention of selling Zaha.

You have seen in day in and day out, but you mentioned ‘real fan’ in your comment as if others aren't real for not being able to go and watch their team live.

Zaha is your best player, but then again look at some of the players who do make the step up and aren't all that. You guys mentioned that Zaha did well against United in one match. Doesn't mean much. If we went just by that Brad Friedel would be considered world class as he always use to put on a performance against us.

Zaha is potential, but that's it. The other players who went to top clubs as potential without having PL experience went for less. And again, there have been many who were hyped up and didn't make it (Micheal Johnson at City who actually had prem experience was once subject to a 10million pounds bid from Liverpool, Cherno Samba at Millwall was rated quite highly too, hell we were linked with Kevin Hofland at PSV for 15mill, he left 2 years later for 3 million because he was overhyped).

So, as you can see we are apprehensive in going for Zaha for such an amount when he hasn't proven himself against good defenders day in and day out and is touted for 15million-20million.

I have admitted I have seen little of him and he hasn't impressed me as a 15million worth player or a player who's potential is worth that much. If he wasn't English and playing in England he'd go for 4million.

You don't really know do ya? We aren't judging him on one match against you last year, he does that every week and is constantly double and triple marked, but still manages to evade quality defenders. You sit there and say he isn't worth this he's worth that, how can you know, by your own admission you've hardly seen him play.

I really don't know why us Palace fans are defending Wilf as we're quite glad that you don't want him, we do.

Palace fans

Again, not all United supporters feel the same on Zaha. A lot have doubts but i'd tend to listen to you guys as you see him every week.

If he comes I hope he lives up to his promise and you guys ae properly renumerated

I'm a football fan first and foremost and a decent fee for you guys will trickle down into the league when you buy a replacement and can only be good for the football economy.

posted on 17/1/13

Well as someone who does go everyweek I would say yes- I am in a better position to judge than most. Match of the Day can make any player look good of bad if they so choose!

In fact I went to United v West Brom on the 29th December with my brother when you won 2-0 and I bet that was one game more than most you lot have ever been too let alone this season!

Red Rob, throughout this you have been reasonable and I like your footy fan first comment We would still prefer to keep him, someone mentioned that Wilf is all about potential, that's correct but I haven't seen potential like that in my life. There have been debates on other sites about who is better at the same age, Wilf or Vic Moses, I would say that it tipped slightly in Vicmo's balance but for me it's Wilf.

The reason our chairman has put a high valuation of £20m is that we don't want to sell him, we don't need the money yet, we run at a small loss each year that our owners cover, at the moment the club is focusing on promotion which would net us £60-80m and would pay back any monies the owners have put in over the last few years and dwarfs the money (supposedly) on the table at the moment.

This is all paper talk anyway, Gill says he's a player Utd have looked at but they have to look at all the young talent coming through.

Obviously the sceptics on here will laugh, but for a comparison of how Wilf plays, remember Ronaldo when he first played for you.....

Well, good luck whatever happens. And btw, if he does come I ask you to come on here in 12 months.

If he plays as well as you say he can then it'll be funny to see the same doubters who call him a 'donkey' suddenly be his biggest fans

I've had a UEFA A Licence for years and coached at U21 national level, and had quite a few of the best young Dutch players go through my hands.

This guy Zaha is the best and most skilful player I have ever seen, he has a bag of tricks I have never seen any player use, including Messi, or Cruijff, he can do things with a ball that are unreal, anyone at the cup game last season will know he gave Fabio Da Silva, Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans, Rafael, and Park, a torrid time, they just could not cope with him, and he was still only 18 years old, and has developed since then.

In the right hands that boy is going to be a world class player, if not the best player.

Yes he is raw, yes he has faults, that can be frustrating but the right mentor can easily iron them out.

I saw him playing for Dortmund a couple of times, how much did you pay for Shinji Kagawa £17m wasn't it.
He's coming 24, Zaha is just 20 last month, and is better than Kagawa was at 22, thats the opinion of someone who has seen both play on a number of occasions.

That is not a bias opinion, as I'm on record, on this forum and on the Holmesdale forum of being critical of him.

But good response. Continue to make bombastic statements which only serves to make you look even more foolish.

It is mildy amusing.
