They play different roles, Sergio Aguero normally plays just behind the striker in a support striker role he may be played in striker for City though, so I guess so yeah
What are you basing this one? Just goals or all round benefit for the team. As i would say Bent will outscore Carroll this season so would that mean if he was to do so he was better? Even if Carrolls other attributes i.e his strength and hold up help liverpool to the CL?
its being reported that its 35million plus 30 million adddons for various future landmarks like trophies and 200 grand a week wages ( 3 times carrolls) 85 million over 5 years, no way comparable a signing to carroll.
However he looks a gem but hes unproven in this league will be intersting to see how he does
There is so much more to making a signing than just scoring goals, the only way we could really compare is to analyse the gross profit after five years

What are you talking about 85m
He has a buy-out clause of around 45m Euros. If you are trying to include wages into the price of a transfer does that mean Ronaldo was about 160m not 80m?
Mancitizens,... think before you post. He's talking about cost added on top of the transfer fee, which remains ~35m.
If his wages are 200k/week then thats ~10mil a year, but if (as suggested) thats 200k net (i.e. 400k/week) that's 21m a year on 1 players wages
So using that logic Andy Caroll cost Liverpool around 54.5m not 35m?
Or does it only apply for Citys players.
If however hes talking about additional payments to Atletico on top of the 38m. We dont pay any additional extras each year. Unlike other clubs our transfers are bought outright without payments outstanding every year to complete the deal. Atletico will get the full 38m in 1 hit as soon as the deal is made official.
You do realise you can buy a player outright but still have extra success-related payments that are triggered if the player makes a certain number of appearances, scores a certain number of goals etc.
The good thing about these is that you only pay them if the player doesn't flop, so they're a good idea and uite common these days

I do realise this yes, but that is only when its a fee rising to another. For example Sanchez cost Barca 23m with the potential to rise to 34m due to these add ons.
What you still havent grasped is that we dont do this at the moment. Its a set figure of 38m paid outright. Why would we pay more than a release clause when we dont need to?
Carol has only scored 12 goals at the top level and has problems with alcohol. He was a panic buy
Fair point about the wages was just quoting the headlines, take them away its about 65 million with the future sediment which carrolls doesn't include, so a much more expensive signing but if ur owners have the money why not ey, I'd be made up and so would most footy fans
Addons not sediment, pesky predictive txt
When liverpool spend 35m on a player, it costs less than when united city or Chelsea spend 35m on a player... Didn't all you guys know this. They buy players with a special scouse pound which means all Their transfer deals represent better value than any other clubs' deals.

As already explained its 38m. As soon as its made official the British transfer record will still be Fernando Torres 50m.

Firstly, are you really thick or just a wum?
The cost to the club obviously includes their salary.
Aguero will cost city a lot more than Carroll will cost Liverpool! Surely you must understand this.
And this does not mean Ronaldo's trf fee was £160m, it was £80, but his cost to Real will be £160m.
Absolutely hilarious. You Scousers have been banging on for YEARS about Aguero being the missing piece to the jigsaw, about him being the perfect partner for Torres, about him being a Liverpool fan meaning he wants to join Liverpool. And now that he has gone to another club you all believe Andy Carroll will do better than him
While Aguero was leading his club to success in Europe, Carroll was struggling to reach the 20 goal mark in the Championship
Aguero like Torres loved Liverpool and the city, the fans, the HISTOREE, the histrionics.
But now they have gone, British beef is best.
Barely a dozen top flight goals cost £36m
londontopboys (U8927)
Do you glean some kind of fun getting your facts wrong over and over?
He has scored 14 top flight goals in his last 34 prem games (many including sub) at the ripe old age of 22.
Just to put it into perspective that is 100% better than Drogba at the same age in a better league.
You actually do not know what you are talking about.
I can't recall any Liverpool fan on here saying Carroll is worth £35m.
No English playuer is worth his money.
Rooney - £250K a week - NO
Carroll - £35m - NO
Bent - £24m - NO
Carrick - £18m - NO
Lescott - £24m - NO
Milner - £22m - NO
City have a good player in Aguero and i think most fans would want him at theuir club.
Why is it when a team signs a player he is automatically compared to a rival clubs latest signing?
It's like the old Frankie Boyle statement
'My dad would batter your dad'
Schoool holiday articles
Just to put it in perspective drogba was sold for £80000 not £35 m when he was 22.
Andy c scored 12 prem goals before he went to pool
You are wrong. It's as simple as that. He has scored in the prem in previous seasons.
I don't care how much they sell for I care how many they score.

think he scored 2 for us before last season in the prem. He had a career changing year. Scored 17 in the NPC and 12 in the PL from jan to jan
