Honestly, this tournament has to be stopped, to make matters worse we have to endure this every 2 years
Vuvuzela's
TOURNAMENT AVOIDED
Alway wondered how Nigeria, a country of over 150 million people and fairly passionate about football, can't produce a decent team. They looked the real deal in the 90's but have regressed horribly since. Must be a massive failure of the government.
5 for setting up this thread mate
I'm going for Nigeria to win it. Well over due IMO!!!
If not Ivory coast just because of all their near misses in recent years...

It's not that bad, just not that good either!
Top Scorer - Adebayor (12 in 3 games)
Think two years is too much, would add a bit more excitement to it if it was once in 4 years.

And Togo to still go out
Or does he get himself suspended for the second round?
ACON is a poor tournament
I'd rather watch The Notebook
Well why don't you go and comment on the Notebook thread?
ps, what is the Notebook?
Never again THudd, never again.

Unless you are a footballing nation like Brazil or Argentina, it's very hard for 3rd world countries to put their efforts into producing a good team. There are other pressing things for the countries to do.
Plus Africa are not producing the talent as they did before, maybe due to what the European teams are demanding. They want the Drogba sort of players, big strong, which isn't Africa's (west Africa's) sort of game.
The skill, flair, trickery and passion has disappeared
There is also an increase in Africans taking up other nationalities, isn't there?
Since around the mid-90s I think more and more African players have been adopted by European countries.
Could be wrong, don't have any statistics to back this up, but it seems to be the way it has gone.
There is too much corruption most African countries. The govermnet inout next to nothing on sports development as they would rather keep the money for themselves. Adebayor quit Togo when he realised most of his teammates were not being paid.
whens gervinho coming back?

Equally you find alot of players though who have been born and/or raised in a country but decide to play for another country that they're applicable for, eg. Ba, born and raised in France, Moses, lived in England since he was 9, Ameobi as well, though it's unlikely he would have made an impact..Prince-Boateng - but he was kind of forced to due to the whole Ballack thing, plus he's 'retired'. Class player though. Underrated, but having a poor season. I digress..
yeah but he didnt quit did he.. as he is now at the ACON.
his main concern was surrounding safety
