Who's have known?

I'm not sure on this tournament, nor the majority of teams in it. Obviously I've heard of them all but only a few have been to recent World Cup finals - are the "lesser" teams so to speak actually any good?

Where's Malawi? Obviously not qualified. Mamba there used to be an international tornement called East And Central Africa Senior Challenge Cup, does that comp not happen any more?

It's called CECAFA Cup. It is still running. Uganda have won it last couple of times if I remember correctly. Kenya havent won it since 2002

We lost 2-1 in the final of 2012 vs Uganda

I want a small nation to win it again, preferably Ethiopia.

To be honest they are not very good but football in the continent is growing now very fast. Recent tournaments and fixtures suggest that the powers that be in African football could be in for a rude shock. There could be a shift in power in the coming years and months.

Also, Africa is complicated and you can't really tell. Big teams have most if not all players in foreign leagues across the world while some teams are made mostly of local players with a great understanding of each other and need no time to gel.

I'm originally from Malawi and remember them winning it 88 when I was a kid, at the time the whole nation was buzzing. Only thing I ever remember Malawi winning.

Africa is football crazy!!!!! More than most think.

Apart from Ivory Coast, whos everyone's prediction to win it. I want Zambia to retain. They have come leaps and bounds since the tragedy of the plane crash.

Good article. I'll be supporting the Super Eagles. I spent some time growing up in Nigeria and it's like my third home.

I'll try to participate but I'm not too familiar with the players anymore.

. Newcastle United can take mixed emotions as Cheick Tiote is absent. Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba will remain after Ivory Coast qualified at the expense of the eventually disqualified Senegal.
===========
Sure Newcastle are delirious that Chelsea player Demba Ba is not going

No they won't

======
The Togolese talisman returned from international exile previously but has confirmed he would not participate at the Afcon after becoming unhappy at the way the players were not being paid their bonuses.

Well he is there and playing.
