i know its not a proper answer,
but i would like to see the FA step in after the match if a player has gained an unfair advantage or benefited from an event that happened in an unsporting behaviour way if ref missed it or didn't give out appropriate punishment.
think there is more the FA could be doing to help refs out here, yes they make mistakes but the fa don't help them.
punish the player even if its after game has happened and we may slowly start seeing this behaviour removed from our game, but i wont hold my breath, managers tell there players to try and gain an unfair advantage and they all do it, so its where to start really.
Badge kissing, pointing to the sky after scoring (ala lampard), trying to gain some miniscule advantage by placing the ball outside the quadrant on corner kicks.
I agree with MARK (U1449) Badge kissing....it annoys me when they do this and then 2 months later they feck off for higher wages.....
Time wasting. One of the most infuriating forms of cheating.
I hate it when players go down from a "foul" and grab the ball before the whistle is blown. It really irritates me because a lot of the time I don't think it's a foul but the ref doesn't have the backbone to call it as a handball
Mark - I really don't get why you'd put it outside the line, it's not like that extra 2 inches is going to make the difference.
I don't mind badge kissing, from players who genuinely love the club and who are highly unlikely to leave. Players like Hernandez I don't mind doing it, but it would annoy me if Young did it.
Agreed Chris - It is deliberate handball and should be at least a yellow for it, it is just a way for them to try to force the ref to give them a free kick by stopping play.

Scribe,
I agree with that. The thing about stuff like that is the refs should be far more strict, they always backpedal away from the players as if they are running. Personally I would yellow card every single player that came running over, and the problem is solved within a week

It isn't like the ref is going to change his mind just because someone ran up to him, so it really is pointless. No idea why they do it...
Agree with Scribe.
We've had 'cracking down' on a keeper holding the ball for 6 seconds and shirts taken off after a player scores but players can still get up in a refs face without punishment.
One brave ref with his bosses backing would cure it no problem.

I sometimes wonder if they are told to, from a psychological point of view it perhaps can make the ref doubt his decision and be lenient later in the game.
Although that being said, I remember a few years ago Arsenal vs Fulham where the players went mental over a penalty awarded and Mark Halsey (I think) changed his mind
I hate it when refs are trying to even out something they got wrong earlier in the game and they make it so obvious

It's quite annoying when defenders put both arms around a player, for example during corners, and the ref does nothing.
Also players that talk to the press a lot, especially to wind-up or annoy other teams (e.g. Evra).

Imaginary cards, enough said. Seems to be less frequent these days though.
time wasting, particularly substitutions with a minute left on the clock, there is only one reason a team would need to do this and it's not to give someone a 40 second run out.
Diving is the most infuriating thing in the world when it happens to you, although no team can get on their high horse, this is down to the managers though. What we need is for every time a player dives, the managers to publicly condemn them, or for the FA to retrospectively ban them.

I've never had a problem with this, personally. I don't see any real difference between waving an imaginary card and appealing for a foul, free kick or any other decision. All are examples of players trying to influence a decision or trying to tell the ref how to do his/her job, so I don't see why we single out card-waving.
For me it's definitely hounding the ref. The sight of players gritting their teeth, snarling and getting their faces right up in the officials' faces really turns my stomach.
Surrounding the ref is not on, only the captain should be allowed to approach the ref.
Anyone else doing it should be carded instantly.
It's not just the players
two things that annoy me with referees :
- when they've booked a player then they tend to brandish a yellow to the other team just to even things out even if the second foul is nowhere near as bad.
- when a cross goes into the box and the keeper goes for it then half of these referees already have the whistle in their mouth ready to blow for a free kick agaisnt the GK.
- thirdly and I don't know if anyone has spotted this but when a team is winning and one of their players tries to shield the ball in the corner to waste time then some of these liners/refs blow for a free kick - it's bizarre
and i'm aware that's three things - not two
We should be learning from Rugby....we never have...which is why the game is in the mess it is from this point of view
they have all been in the game from the beginning. Why do you think the Corinthians have been lauded for over a century.
Will never stop it only curb it and only then by using retrospective punishment.
Too many to list.
However, one that really rankeles with me is 'spitting'. I have run the NY and London Marathon and done two half-marathons - all at a decent time.
Post-race, i didn't crouch over and spray spit; neither did i do it during the race.
There is simply no excuse for it. Tuberculosis and other Dickensian diseases are making a comeback, ya know?
